The Thuan An sea bridge project commenced construction in March 2022. The project is part of a 7.7 km coastal road project extending from the Tam Giang bridge intersection to the Thuan An sea bridge, ending at the intersection of National Highway 49A and National Highway 49B in Thuan An ward, with a total cost of over 2,400 billion VND.

For several months, the Thuận An sea bridge has been barricaded due to land acquisition issues on Hoàng Sa road. Mr. Nguyễn Văn Cường, Deputy Director of the Investment and Construction Management Department of Huế City, said that the unit is urging contractors to quickly complete the remaining sections of the Thuận An coastal road. It is expected that the 7.7km coastal road from Tam Giang bridge to the intersection of National Highway 49A and National Highway 49B will be completed by June 30th.

Accordingly, the Thuan An sea bridge is the longest sea bridge in Central Vietnam, with a length of 2.36 km, a width of 20 m, and 4 lanes. It is constructed of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete, using a hybrid beam and cable structure for the main spans, with the largest span measuring 218 m. The bridge starts at Hoang Sa Street, in the former Thuan An ward, and ends at Con Dau, in the former Hai Duong commune.
