"A resting place" of childhood
To promote community-based tourism linked to the preservation of cultural and historical values, the People's Committee of Hoa Chau Ward organized the "Childhood Memories in the Heart of the Old Town" festival in Bao Vinh Old Town. The pedestrian street, stretching from Bao Vinh Bridge to Dia Linh Canal, will be open from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM for three days from May 29th to 31st.
Here, contemporary life blends with the riverine culture and traditional community activities. The event is not merely an entertainment activity but also aims to honor heritage, promote the night-time economy , and raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development in line with the motto "Living Heritage - Green Economy - Civilization and Compassion".

The unique feature of this Bao Vinh pedestrian street is its organization into themed clusters that are rich in experiential and humanistic values:
The "Memories of the River" cluster: centered around the Bao Vinh boat dock and market. This is where activities such as water puppetry, lantern-lighting wishes, and Hue cuisine take place, featuring snacks associated with the childhood of many generations.
The "Intellectual and Humanistic" cluster: At Bao Vinh village communal house, activities such as the "Golden Bell" quiz competition, the "Continuing the Dream of the Old Quarter" painting contest, and especially the "Zero-Cost Book Market" will be organized to awaken a love of history and reading culture in young children.

The "Experience and Heritage" section: At the verandas of ancient traditional houses and the Chili Village, children participate in the "Heritage Passport" program. With 5 experiential stations, they make kites, windmills, lanterns, paint statues, or bake traditional cakes. Each completed activity is stamped on a "passport" as a unique cultural keepsake.
New life for Bao Vinh ancient town.
Besides the main activity areas, the pedestrian street space is also filled with a festive atmosphere with street lion dances, fashion shows with the theme "Once Upon a Time," acoustic music, and traditional folk games.
One notable point is that the Organizing Committee prioritizes local products and services, minimizing commercialization to preserve the authentic charm of the old town.

According to Mr. Phan Trong Nghia, Chairman of the Hoa Chau Ward People's Committee, the "Childhood Memories in the Heart of the Old Quarter" festival is not only a beneficial playground for children during the Month of Action for Children, but also an important step to affirm the development orientation of Bao Vinh into a living heritage space, rich in Hue's identity.
This is expected to be a new beginning for Bao Vinh Old Town to become an attractive cultural destination, where memories are preserved and continued in the modern flow.
