For a long time, the lotus has been a special symbol of Kim Lien homeland. More than just a summer flower, the lotus holds profound meaning in the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people. It represents the pure beauty of rising from the mud without being stained; the enduring vitality in the face of nature's harshness; and it also evokes the simple yet noble qualities of President Ho Chi Minh .

In Sen Village, May always seems to have its own unique rhythm. Not noisy or bustling, it retains the tranquil charm of a land of memories. The simple houses, the leaning bamboo groves, the familiar red dirt roads, and the sound of the wind rustling through the trees make time seem to slow down.

In particular, the first lotus blossoms of the season begin to bloom on the lotus ponds along the road leading to and within the grounds of the Kim Lien National Special Historical Site. The gentle pink color of the lotus stands out against the lush green of the leaves, and the light fragrance carried on the early morning breeze soothes the hearts of anyone who visits.

During the historic month of May, the Kim Lien National Special Historical Site welcomes thousands of visitors. People come not only to visit a historically significant site but also to find a moment of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life. In this peaceful setting, stories about the life and character of President Ho Chi Minh are recounted with deep respect and pride.
In addition to renovating and maintaining the lotus ponds within the historical site, in 2013 local people in Kim Lien commune also began renovating abandoned ponds, lakes, and low-lying fields to grow lotus.

Ms. Tran Thi The, from Kim Lien commune, said: Her family has cultivated about 4 hectares of lotus with many different varieties such as Quan Am lotus, Bach Diep Ho Tay lotus, and Bi Ngan lotus… During the peak season, her family can harvest 400 to 500 lotus flowers per day. Besides selling at local markets, the lotus is also supplied to the Kim Lien National Special Historical Site to serve tourists who come to offer incense and visit President Ho Chi Minh's birthplace during the month of May.

Thanks to lotus cultivation, Ms. The's family life gradually became more stable. But the greatest value this model brings is not just economic income. What is even more precious is the revival of an entire area that was once neglected.
Today, the lotus ponds not only create a lush green landscape for the locality but also contribute to beautifying the image of President Ho Chi Minh's homeland in the eyes of tourists from near and far. Every lotus blooming season, this place becomes a stop for many nature lovers and those who appreciate the simple beauty of Vietnamese countryside.
