The Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Quang Tri Province has just issued a plan for organizing the 8th Red Journey Program - 2024 "Connecting the Vietnamese Bloodline".

The program runs from May 28th to July 30th, 2024, with the goal of raising awareness and providing advice to 8,000-10,000 people about voluntary blood donation and thalassemia. It is expected to collect a minimum of 1,500 units of blood, including 500 units on the official day and over 1,000 units at participating locations. At least 5,000 volunteers from local areas and organizations, including Red Cross youth and other volunteers, will participate in these activities.

Mobilize at least 5,000 volunteers to participate in the Red Journey Program in 2024.

The main activities took place over two days, June 17th and 18th, 2024, in Vinh Linh district. Mobile blood donation points were also set up in response: in May at the Provincial Labor Union, Dakrong district; in June in Dong Ha city; and in July at the Provincial Police Department, Trieu Phong district.

The activities include recruiting volunteers; organizing communication activities to promote voluntary blood donation and awareness of thalassemia; visiting the Martyrs' Cemetery in Vinh Linh district; parades and mobile propaganda; opening the "Red Journey" program (7:00 AM, June 18th); and the "Drop of Red in the Land of Fire" blood donation festival.

The program aims to widely disseminate among officials, civil servants, union members, association members, and all segments of the population the beautiful tradition and moral principle of the Vietnamese nation, "Love others as you love yourself"; to raise awareness among all levels, sectors, political and social organizations, and the people about the noble significance of voluntary blood donation, and to actively encourage participation in blood donation and organize social humanitarian activities.

Expanding the pool of voluntary blood donors, encouraging and promoting blood donations of 350ml or more, increasing the rate of repeat and regular blood donors, will contribute to overcoming the blood shortage during the summer of 2024.
