Nguyen Huy Hoang won gold medals in the 800m and 1,500m races at the Asian tournament.

In the decisive swim, Huy Hoang started in lane 5, competing with many strong opponents such as Xu Haibo (China), Sibirtsev Ilya (Uzbekistan), Khiew Hoe Yean (Malaysia) and Tanaka Shun (Japan).

Right after the starting signal, the swimmer from Quang Binh quickly took the lead. After the first 100 meters, Hoang was only slightly ahead of the chasing group, but the more he swam, the more he showed the difference in his courage and ability to maintain speed.

At the 400m mark, Hoang was 1.61 seconds ahead of Xu Haibo. Although the 17-year-old Chinese talent tried to close the gap, he ran out of steam in the decisive stage and was overtaken by Sibirtsev Ilya to take second place. Meanwhile, Huy Hoang kept his pace perfectly in the last 100m, finishing in 7 minutes 57 seconds 58, 3.34 seconds ahead of his Uzbekistan rival.

This is Huy Hoang's second gold medal at the tournament, after the 1,500m freestyle event. The impressive achievement not only helps him confirm his position as the number one in the continent in the middle and long distances, but also continues to nurture the hope of competing for medals in the world arena.

At the age of 25, the swimmer born in 2000 is entering the prime of his career. With stable performance and increasingly experienced competition, Huy Hoang is expected to become the leading flag of Vietnamese swimming on the journey to reach the international level.
