The iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the biggest ever.

The iPhone 16 Pro series, launching in 2024, may feature a larger screen size and in-display Face ID.

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), a market research firm specializing in display screens, stated that the iPhone 16 Pro series, set to launch in 2024, will feature the largest display ever.

Although he didn't reveal the specific dimensions, Young commented "almost" under a tweet predicting the iPhone 16 Pro would have a 6.4-inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max (or Ultra) would use a 6.9-inch screen.

Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 16 models retain their 6.1 and 6.7-inch screen sizes. Based on rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro's screen size will be slightly larger than the previous models.

According to 9to5Mac, Ross Young is one of the most reputable leakers thanks to his relationship with Apple's display supply chain. However, it's too early to talk about the iPhone 16 because Apple's plans could change.

Besides screen size, rumors suggest that at least one model in the iPhone 16 lineup will feature in-display Face ID, eliminating the notch.

The Elec previously speculated that this change would appear on the iPhone 15 Pro. However, according to Ross Young, under-display Face ID will only be included on the iPhone 16 at the earliest.

“We’re confirming once again that the under-display infrared system won’t be on the iPhone until 2024, which is the iPhone 16. Even so, we have to start development and send out prototypes now,” Young said.

Similarly, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities believes that under-display Face ID will appear on the "high-end" iPhone 16 models. He even predicts that the front camera will also be under the screen.

“I think a truly full-screen iPhone will launch in 2024. The high-end model in 2024 will feature an under-display front camera and Face ID. Because low-light conditions affect image quality, algorithms and processing sensors are crucial for improving quality,” Kuo added.

Under-display cameras have been implemented on some Android smartphones, but their quality hasn't been highly rated. That's why most high-end devices still use traditional selfie cameras in the form of a circular punch-hole.
