Born into a family with a rich artistic tradition, Tran Hoang Khanh Tuan (born in 2014, Duc Quang commune) grew up surrounded by the songs and melodies of his grandparents and parents, and his soul was nurtured early on by the simple tunes of his homeland. In particular, under the dedicated guidance of his grandfather, the Meritorious Artist Tran Van Hoang, Khanh gradually came to appreciate the profound beauty and sentiment in each Ví and Giặm folk song; his love for Ví and Giặm folk songs quietly grew over the years.

These summer days, amidst the sweltering heat of Central Vietnam, Khanh still regularly practices with her friends in the Yen Ho Folk Song Club (Duc Quang commune). For her, folk songs are not only a passion but also open up a deeper understanding of her homeland and the people of Ha Tinh .
Tran Hoang Khanh Tuan shared: “Through the folk songs and melodies of the Ví and Giặm genres, I have learned a lot more about my hometown of Ha Tinh, about the beautiful culture and the kindness of its people. My friends and I in the club at the commune and school will try to practice to sing better, perform folk songs more effectively, and create more meaningful music videos and products to introduce Ví and Giặm folk songs and the image of our homeland to everyone.”
Although many melodies are still not perfectly polished, and in some places the intonation and pronunciation still seem a bit clumsy, in each song sung by Khanh and his friends, there shines a sincere love for the folk songs of their homeland.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, young people like Khanh are quietly preserving and continuing a part of Nghe An's cultural soul with all their pride and passion. What's even more valuable is that this continuation goes beyond simply learning and singing old melodies.
Today's younger generation is seeking ways to bring folk music beyond the familiar confines of village courtyards and rooftops, to connect with contemporary life through the language of the digital age. After long rehearsals under the scorching Central Vietnamese sun, in rustic village homes, come meticulously produced music videos and videos. The melodies and rhythms of folk songs and chants are then not only heard in rural settings but also spread across social media, television, and audiences throughout the country.

While Khánh Tuấn is the third generation in a family sharing a passion for Ví and Giặm folk songs, nurtured by these simple, rustic melodies from childhood, for Nguyễn Thị Quỳnh Như (born in 2015) – a petite girl from the rural Đồng Tiến area – that love has been transformed into a musical space imbued with a new spirit.
Having just returned from the "Golden Voice of Vietnamese Homeland Love Songs" competition in 2026, held in Da Nang , although she only made it to the top 35, for Quynh Nhu, the greatest joy is not the achievement, but the pride of bringing the image of her hometown, Ha Tinh, to friends across the country through each song about her homeland.

As a member of the Ha Tinh Young Folk Song Club, Quynh Nhu is not only passionate about the simple melodies of Vi and Giam folk songs but also particularly loves songs with the folk music style of Nghe Tinh. With her sweet voice and innate talent, she has participated in many large and small art competitions and performances, bringing her singing to many stages inside and outside the province. Each time she sings, Quynh Nhu not only uses technique and emotion but also conveys her deep love for her homeland's culture.
“I really love songs with the folk music style of Nghe Tinh such as: “A heartfelt song from Ha Tinh”, “My Beloved Ha Tinh”, “Come Back to Ha Tinh, My Dear”, “Ha Tinh, the Land of Promises”... Every time I stand on stage to perform, I always feel proud to have the opportunity to introduce the image of Ha Tinh to more people. I hope that through my singing, people will understand and love more the cultural values and people of my homeland,” – Quynh Nhu shared.

Beyond simply learning to sing or performing, and carrying the image of their hometown, Ha Tinh, further afield through melodies and songs, many young people today are also seeking to innovate the way they tell stories about their homeland with a modern touch, so that traditional values become more accessible and relatable to the younger generation.
As a teacher with a deep love for her homeland, Ms. Vo Thuy Hien (Primary School 1, Thach Ha town, Thach Ha commune) not only dedicates herself to teaching folk songs to her students but also collaborates with them to create hundreds of video clips on digital platforms.

In these videos, the Ví and Giặm folk songs and other songs with the Nghệ An accent are naturally integrated as an integral part of the region's atmosphere. With their approachable and youthful style, these videos have attracted tens of thousands of views and shares on social media, contributing to the spread of the beauty of their homeland's culture to a wider audience, especially young people. What's valuable is that through each video, the students not only hone their performance skills and become familiar with digital technology, but also cultivate a love for traditional culture from a young age.
Teacher Vo Thuy Hien said: “I always believe that to make students love traditional culture, we must first help them understand and be proud of their homeland. Today's generation of students grows up with smartphones, social media, and digital technology, so I want to tell stories about our homeland with them in the language they love. When they sing and introduce the culture and beautiful scenery of Ha Tinh, that's when their love for their homeland is nurtured in the most natural way.”

On social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, more and more young people are creating video clips showcasing the beauty of life, culture, and landscapes of their hometown, Ha Tinh. From images of rice fields during harvest season, tranquil riverbanks, and the simple rhythm of life in the countryside to rapidly transforming urban areas, everything is retold from a youthful, modern perspective while still retaining the essence of their homeland. The combination of technology, digital culture, and love for their birthplace is helping traditional values transcend modern life, spreading in a more accessible and vibrant way.

It's not difficult to find young people from Ha Tinh becoming "cultural ambassadors" in the digital space. From Nguyen Thi Dieu Hang and Nguyen Thi Minh Anh, whose videos introducing local cuisine, specialties, and camping spots attract tens of thousands of followers, to Nguyen Trong Quy Duc and Ngo Thi Hieu, who diligently capture the beauty of Thien Cam beach, villages, historical sites, destinations, and local cultural life through short films.

Each story published carries a sense of pride in Ha Tinh province, contributing to telling unique narratives about Ha Tinh from a youthful, modern perspective, yet full of love and pride. It is through these seemingly small connections that the image of a region rich in cultural identity is spread closer to communities across the country, positioning Ha Tinh's cultural identity within the flow of integration and development.
“Ha Tinh has many beautiful landscapes, especially Thien Cam beach. I want to create a TikTok channel called “Quy Duc – Thien Cam” to attract more tourists to Ha Tinh. The video content will not only focus on scenery but also on the daily lives of fishermen in the area, allowing tourists to learn about and experience it firsthand.” Although the channel has only been running for over a year, many tourists from outside the province have come to Thien Cam after following it. That motivates me to produce even more videos,” shared Mr. Nguyen Trong Quy Duc (Thien Cam commune).

From the folk songs and melodies sung in folk clubs and on art stages, to films about their homeland disseminated in the digital space, young people in Ha Tinh are continuing to write the cultural story of their homeland in their own way. In each song, in each film, in the stories shared every day, the image of the land of Hong Mountain and La River, rich in identity and deep in affection, remains present in contemporary life, close yet profound, simple yet enduring, just like the very cultural source that has nurtured generations of Ha Tinh people.
