The iPhone 17 Pro duo is equipped with a high-refresh-rate screen, comes with the introduction of blockbuster gaming capabilities (AAA) and supports advanced Ray tracing technology.

Ray Tracing is an advanced rendering technique that simulates the way light interacts with objects to create realistic images. The technology traces the path of light rays to calculate reflections, refractions, and shadows, giving games and movies depth and life. Because it requires powerful hardware, Ray Tracing is usually only available on high-end gaming computers.

According to Apple's announcement, the vapor chamber technology on the iPhone 17 Pro helps the A19 Pro chip maintain 40% higher performance than the A18 Pro chip on the previous generation.

This is reminiscent of Nvidia's development strategy. The latest RTX 50-series GPUs, such as the RTX 5070, also only bring small performance improvements compared to the previous RTX 40 series.

Similar to Nvidia's GPUs, Apple has integrated "Neural Accelerators" into the GPU of the A19 Pro chip. In essence, this is the hardware equivalent of the Tensor cores on Nvidia's graphics cards, used to handle tasks related to artificial intelligence (AI).

These neural accelerators will be able to upscale images directly on the GPU, significantly improving response times and reducing latency, a familiar performance optimization method widely used on high-performance gaming PCs.
