This statement comes amid reports that the US and Israel are about to launch a new attack on Iran.
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the Iranian Army's deputy commander in charge of coordination, issued the warning on Saturday (May 23), as Iran commemorated the 44th anniversary of its recapture of the city of Khorramshahr during the Beit-ol-Moqaddas operation in the 1980s Iran-Iraq war.
"To protect the territorial integrity and independence of our country, we are ready to create another Beit-ol-Moqaddas in the face of any aggression," Sayyari declared, emphasizing that the Iranian military is awaiting orders from the Supreme Leader to launch powerful attacks against the enemy if necessary.
In a statement issued the same day, the Iranian military asserted that its forces had accumulated experience from the previous war with Iraq as well as recent conflicts with the United States and Israel, which have taken place from last year to the present.
"With unwavering determination and steadfast will, the military is prepared for a decisive and comprehensive confrontation with all threats," the statement said.
In a related development, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf declared that Tehran does not trust the United States and will never relinquish its national rights in negotiations with Washington aimed at ending the war.
Ghalibaf made this statement during a meeting with Pakistan's Army Chief of Staff, Asim Munir.
"We will not back down in the face of a completely dishonest and untrustworthy party," Ghalibaf said.
Asim Munir arrived in Tehran to exchange views on the latest developments concerning the Pakistan-mediated talks between Iran and the United States.
Ghalibaf, the head of Iran's negotiating delegation, pointed out Iran's legitimate self-defense actions on the battlefield, while emphasizing that Tehran would strive with both intelligence and strength on the diplomatic front to realize its legitimate rights and protect its national interests.
Iranian officials also accused the US of "breaking its promise" following the ceasefire agreement brokered by Pakistan.
"We had a ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, but the US broke its promise, imposed a naval blockade, and now they are trying to lift that blockade," he said.
Ghalibaf also responded to speculation that the US and Israel might resume military attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing that the armed forces had used the ceasefire to rebuild themselves.
"If the US acts rashly and continues to provoke war, the consequences will undoubtedly be far more devastating than on the first day of the conflict," Ghalibaf warned.
For his part, Asim Munir said Pakistan appreciated Iran's leadership role during the current period of tension. Earlier, the Pakistani army chief had held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran.
