Major General Abolfazl Shekarchi, a senior spokesman for the Iranian armed forces, emphasized in an interview on Tuesday (May 26) that Tehran is ready for war and has identified targets to retaliate against should the US or Israel restart military actions.
Major General Abolfazl Shekarchi stated that Iran's response to any new act of aggression would differ from previous confrontations, adding that the adversary would certainly face new surprises and tactics.

The general warned that if the region enters a new cycle of conflict, Iranian attacks will spread beyond the region and will be far more serious, intense, and powerful than in the two previous wars.
The spokesperson also noted that if the war were to reignite and Iran's oil exports were blocked, the Islamic Republic would prevent oil from leaving the region.
He stated that Iran would manage the Strait of Hormuz "resolutely and decisively" to ensure maritime security, international trade, and global economic stability.
Technological upgrades in military strategy
In a related development, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need to enhance technological capabilities and apply advanced expertise to the country's defense and security strategies, while highlighting the importance of continuous modernization of military systems.
Speaking at a meeting with Iranian Defense Ministry officials on Tuesday, Pezeshkian praised the role of the armed forces in enhancing the country's deterrence capabilities and defensive strength in recent confrontations with the United States and Israel.
The Iranian president stated that adversaries "cannot imagine" the current level of combat readiness and operational capability of the Iranian armed forces. According to him, this is the result of years of investment in research, strategic planning, and the development of defense technology.
Referring to developments in the region, Pezeshkian said that countries in the region have now come to the conclusion that the US military presence does not provide them with long-term security, and that relying on the US for security has proven to be an unrealistic and ineffective assumption.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also emphasized the need to update and redesign defense structures to adapt to modern technological changes.
