At least six people were injured.

On the evening of October 16th, the Police Department of District 3 (Ho Chi Minh City) announced that they are continuing to coordinate with other professional units to investigate and clarify the case of a man who attacked people with a knife and then committed suicide.

According to authorities, the suspect has been identified as DG (23 years old, living with his brother in Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City). The suspect works as an ice delivery person.

Earlier that morning, G. and his brother were delivering ice in District 3. While his brother was delivering ice to customers, G. suddenly exhibited unusual behavior, stripped off all his clothes, grabbed a knife from a passerby, and chased after several people, attempting to stab them.

Upon receiving the report, the District 3 Police arrived at the scene to pursue the suspect. When G. reached the front of house number 27C on Ban Co Street (Ward 3, District 3), the suspect suddenly used a knife to cut his own throat and died shortly afterward.

According to the District 3 Police, at least six people have been injured by G., including a security guard who is receiving intensive care at the hospital and requires a ventilator. The remaining victims sustained minor injuries (including an 80-year-old woman and a person with a mental illness).

Previously, a series of incidents caused public uproar were perpetrated by individuals under the influence of methamphetamine. On September 1st, the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police reported that they had successfully rescued one victim and guided three others to safety in a fire at an apartment building in Imperial Place, Binh Tan District (633 Kinh Duong Vuong Street, An Lac Ward).

According to authorities, the initial cause was that the girl (born in 2004) in the apartment, suspected of being under the influence of drugs, set fire to the sofa. Neighbors rushed into the apartment to pull her out, but she refused to come out and was injured.

In March 2023, in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, a tragic murder also occurred, allegedly involving a son under the influence of drugs stabbing his own mother to death.

According to initial information, residents living in the alley on TTH29 street heard screams coming from the house of Mrs. N. (56 years old). A young girl ran out of Mrs. N.'s house shouting for help. People went inside the house and found V. (Mrs. N.'s biological daughter) holding a blood-stained weapon. Next to her was Mrs. N.'s body with multiple injuries.

V. exhibited unusual behavior, appearing disoriented and suspected of being under the influence of drugs. V. used a weapon to attack those who came to his house and barricaded himself inside.

Upon receiving the report, local police quickly arrived, cordoned off the scene, and attempted to subdue V., but he resisted fiercely. The police then had to fire shots to subdue him, wounding V. before escorting him away.
