Special tax investigation into Ji Chang Wook
According to The Chosun on June 2nd, the Seoul National Tax Service (South Korea) conducted a special, unscheduled tax audit and investigation of actor Ji Chang Wook starting in March of this year. This investigation was directly handled by the Investigation Division No. 2 of the Seoul Tax Service and lasted for dozens of days.
Authorities said they have been carefully examining the timing and identification of profits from Ji Chang Wook's entertainment activities both domestically and internationally. In addition, the appropriateness of the payment process for his fees, and the costs of handling cash flow through his entertainment company and related companies, are also under scrutiny.

The audit results revealed that the tax authorities discovered numerous instances of tax evasion or improper handling of expenses. Although the actor's agency reported these expenses as legitimate for entertainment activities, the authorities classified them as personal expenses or expenses not clearly recognized by tax law. As a result, Ji Chang Wook was ordered to pay fines and back taxes amounting to billions of won.
Following the above information, Spring Company, Ji Chang Wook's management company, issued a response. According to Star News , the company stated: "Currently, we are in the process of verifying the details of the relationship between the two parties and will release an official statement once we have clear results."
