Specifically, on June 21, Apple announced the expansion of the self-repair program for the iPhone 14 series, 13-inch MacBook Air using M2 chip, 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch using M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
Starting June 21, users can repair their iPhone 14 at home. |
The company says the program is designed for anyone with experience repairing electronics, but the iPhone maker still recommends customers visit an Apple Store or authorized dealer.
Apple also announced that customers can now complete the System Configuration process themselves after repair by activating Diagnostics Mode and following the on-screen instructions. Users no longer need to contact the support team for this step.
According to Apple, running System Configuration after a repair authenticates Apple components, updates firmware, and calibrates components to ensure maximum performance and quality. Additionally, for repairs involving biometrics such as Touch ID and Face ID, System Configuration links biometric sensors to the Secure Enclave on the logic board to ensure device security and user privacy.
Finally, Apple said it will expand its M1 Mac repair program to Belgium, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the UK, and will also supply parts for the TrueDepth camera and top speaker on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.
