According to a representative of the Russian state arms import-export corporation (Rosoboronexport), at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA 2025) held in Malaysia, the company introduced for the first time the export version of the Su-57E stealth fighter.

Rosoboronexport representatives at Lima 2025 said that aviation products are the main highlight of the exhibition. Therefore, the company decided to introduce the Su-57E – the latest version of Russia's 5th generation stealth fighter.

Previously, the Su-57 also appeared at the Aero India 2025 exhibition in February, an event that paved the way for the possibility of signing a license production contract to equip the Indian Air Force.

According to Military Watch, in Southeast Asia, Malaysia and Indonesia have long been considered the top potential customers for the Su-57. This is the only fifth-generation fighter model in the world produced outside the US and China, the two countries that currently hold a monopoly in this segment.

Stealth fighter for Southeast Asia

Rosoboronexport also emphasized that compared to other 5th generation fighter models in the world, the Su-57 has practical combat experience in an enemy environment using both air attacks, artificial intelligence defense and advanced electronic warfare.

The Su-57E combines stealth, high maneuverability and powerful firepower, and can be deployed in a wide range of combat missions. With a maximum take-off weight of 34 tonnes, the Su-57E is classified as a heavy fighter, optimized for a wide range of air-to-air, land and sea operations.

The Su-57E can reach a maximum speed of 1,350 km/h and a flight range of up to 7,800 km and can be refueled in the air. The aircraft is highly maneuverable thanks to advanced thrust vectoring technology, allowing for complex air maneuvering tactics, which is important for close-range air combat.

The Su-57E has 12 weapon hardpoints, including 6 internal hardpoints that help maintain its stealthy configuration. The fighter can carry air-to-air missiles, precision-guided bombs and munitions. The aircraft's multi-channel weapon control system can adapt to various mission configurations, facilitating flexible switching between different combat situations.

Automation is also a prominent feature of the Su-57E. Advanced automated systems help reduce the pressure on the pilot, allowing for efficient mission management and rapid adaptation to complex combat situations.

In addition to the Su-57E, Rosoboronexport also brought to Lima 2025 the latest versions of fighter jets that meet the requirements of the air forces of Southeast Asian countries in modern combat. These include the Su-35 and Su-30SME multi-role fighters.

The Su-35 fighter is distinguished by its ability to detect long-range targets, along with advanced attack weapons systems.

Unlike the Su-35, the outstanding feature of the Su-30SME multirole fighter is its two-seat configuration, which allows for long-range mission flights, including over seas, as well as supporting pilot training.

Expanding military technology cooperation

On the sidelines of the Lima 2025 exhibition, a representative of Rosoboronexport said that the company wishes to expand industrial partnerships with Southeast Asian countries in the field of military-technical cooperation. The Russian side's proposals are based on the capabilities of each partner and can be implemented locally.

Currently, Rosoboronexport has been providing technology in the field of weapons and military equipment to the armies of Southeast Asian countries and Russia is ready to expand cooperation with partners in this field.

Among the promising areas mentioned by Rosoboronexport are the production of small arms, ammunition of various calibers, air defense missile systems, electronic warfare systems, anti-tank missile systems, armored vehicles and other types of modern military equipment.
