'The passenger was surprised because he didn't get motion sickness at all.'

" The VinFast VF 5 Plus has improved my life."

Who can best understand the advantages and disadvantages of electric vehicles? It's undoubtedly electric taxi drivers – those who drive hundreds of kilometers every day, including long trips, and spend more time at charging stations than anyone else. Bui Van Vu, a Green SM taxi driver in Ho Chi Minh City, is one such person.

Mr. Bui Van Vu (Ho Chi Minh City) has been a taxi driver for many years.

Before joining Xanh SM, Mr. Vu worked as a driver for a traditional taxi company for six years. Afterward, he quit his job, bought a Class A gasoline car, and registered with ride-hailing apps. However, his income didn't meet expectations due to high costs. While he was still undecided, Xanh SM was established, and he decided to try a new path.

Mr. Vu noted that using electric vehicles saves significantly more on fuel costs compared to gasoline-powered cars.

Since joining the ranks of electric vehicle drivers, his income has improved significantly. He calculated that a VinFast VF 5 Plus consumes about 14 kWh of electricity per 100 km. With the current electricity price of around 3,800 VND/kWh, he only spends about 54,000 VND on recharging for an average of 100 km. This is much more economical than a comparable gasoline-powered vehicle.

He said that previously, driving a gasoline-powered car in the same segment would consume about 7 liters of gasoline per 100 km. With gasoline prices fluctuating constantly, sometimes reaching over 25,000 VND/liter, the average cost for 100 km would be around 175,000 VND, which is more than three times the cost of driving an electric car.

Mr. Vu's income has increased by approximately 40% since he started using an electric vehicle.

"Based on my experience, the cost of using an electric vehicle is really low. Both operation and maintenance are much easier than when I drove a gasoline car. This cost saving has allowed me to increase my income," Mr. Vu said.

More specifically, he revealed that he currently earns around 25 million VND per month. After deducting vehicle expenses of approximately 3.6 million VND, mainly for charging, he still has over 21 million VND left each month, not including tips. Overall, his income has increased by about 40% compared to when he used a gasoline-powered vehicle.

Both the driver and the passenger enjoy riding in the electric vehicle.

Having driven the VinFast VF 5 Plus for about six months, Mr. Vu has undergone several software updates – a significant difference from gasoline-powered cars and something he is particularly pleased with. Each time, he reports the car is better, smoother, and more comfortable. In contrast, with gasoline cars, owners cannot proactively update features or improve the driving experience; they can only "customize" the car or buy a newer model.

The VF 5 Plus features a driver-focused cockpit design with many advanced technologies that surpass its segment.

Moreover, technology is also a major differentiating factor. The cars Mr. Vu used before were all gasoline-powered, Class A vehicles. The technology in those cars was almost negligible. Therefore, when he switched to driving VinFast's Class A electric car, he was very surprised by the features available, such as a virtual assistant and blind spot warning system.

"These technologies help drivers observe their surroundings more easily and handle situations better," he said.

Mr. Vu particularly appreciates the virtual assistant. When he wants to turn the air conditioning on or off, or adjust the temperature according to customer preferences, he simply gives a voice command, and the car automatically adjusts as desired. Meanwhile, he can still focus on the road, thereby minimizing the risk of dangerous situations.

Electric vehicles not only benefit drivers but also make passengers more comfortable. Mr. Vu says that most customers are satisfied with being transported by electric vehicles. They appreciate the friendly drivers and the vehicles' "three no's" – no smoke, no odor, and no noise.

Thanks to its advantages of being smokeless, odorless, and quiet, the VF 5 Plus provides a comfortable experience for both drivers and passengers.

One female customer even shared with him that whenever she had to call a taxi, she would feel carsick as soon as she opened the door. But when she sat in the VinFast VF 5 Plus electric car, her experience was completely different.

"The female passenger exclaimed, 'Why is it that when I ride with other companies, I get motion sickness immediately, but I don't feel sick at all on yours?' That was the first time I truly understood the benefits electric vehicles offer to users," he confided.

Reasonable operating range, good charging station coverage.

The VF 5 Plus can travel 326.4 km on a single full charge, according to NEDC standards.

As someone who drives all day, sometimes transporting passengers to provinces like Vung Tau, Dong Nai , Binh Duong, and the Mekong Delta, Mr. Vu shared that the VinFast VF 5 Plus's range of over 300 km is suitable. After a day of driving passengers, he charges the battery fully at a VinFast charging station in the evening, and the next morning the car is ready to go again. After transporting passengers until noon, he only needs to add 20-30% battery to last until late at night.

When traveling to other provinces, VinFast's charging stations have good coverage, so he has never had to worry about distance or charging stations. On long trips, while waiting for customers, he takes advantage of the time to charge his motorbike for about 45 minutes, and then he can comfortably take customers back to Ho Chi Minh City without any worries.

Anh Vu shared that during his daily passenger transport trips, he can take advantage of the charging time to rest.

"Charging time is also a valuable time for me to rest, not wasted time. Sometimes, I haven't even finished my cup of coffee yet and the battery is already fully charged," Mr. Vu recounted.
