Foreign tourists vandalize a coffee shop in the heart of Da Nang.

VHO - A foreign man unexpectedly became aggressive, smashing valuable property at a cafe on Le Hong Phong Street (Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City) before restraining a young man. The suspect is currently being held by the police for investigation.

At noon on May 30th, the Hai Chau Ward Police, in coordination with relevant units, worked with representatives of the coffee shop on Le Hong Phong Street to assess property damage and continue investigating the cause of the incident. The foreign man who caused the disturbance is currently being detained for questioning.

Reportedly, Le Hong Phong Street is a central city road connecting the densely populated area to the Han River, and the cafe where the incident occurred is located directly opposite the Hai Chau Ward People's Committee headquarters.

According to initial information, in the early morning of May 29th, this foreign man entered the restaurant and chatted with a young Vietnamese man. During the conversation, he suddenly took the young man's phone and refused to return it. Faced with this situation, the restaurant staff were forced to call the police.

Just about 5 minutes later, the suspect started taking off his shirt and kicking over tables and chairs, causing many customers, including foreigners, and staff to panic and run outside.

Not stopping there, the man went on to use a chair to smash various items on the first floor of the cafe, including a coffee machine, grinder, brewing equipment, and many antique decorative items on display.

When the local police arrived, the suspect fled to the second floor and used his hands to choke a young man there for about two minutes. Immediately afterward, the police and local residents rushed in to subdue him and escorted him to the police station.

According to a representative of the coffee shop, all the brewing equipment, worth hundreds of millions of dong, along with many souvenirs and antique collectibles, were severely damaged. The shop's glass doors were also shattered. Due to the extensive damage, the establishment has been forced to temporarily close to repair the damage and assist with the investigation by the authorities.

The incident is currently being investigated by the authorities.
