This morning, July 17, a representative of Michelin Guide said that this unit will announce for the first time a list of Michelin Key hotels worldwide, and at the same time introduce four completely new special awards, honoring excellence in specific areas of hotel services.
The announcement ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 8, 2025, online via the Michelin Guide's social media pages and other digital media platforms, in conjunction with the announcement event held in Paris.
5 global criteria
The Michelin Guide, which is world- renowned for its restaurant listings and corresponding Star ratings, has now expanded its scope. This includes a global hotel selection of more than 7,000 properties in over 125 countries.
Michelin Key honors the most outstanding accommodation establishments in the hotel list, carefully evaluated by appraisers, following 5 globally unified criteria: The hotel is the door to the journey of discovering the destination; Excellent interior design and architecture; Quality and consistency in service quality, comfort level and maintenance; Consistency between the quality of experience and price; Affirming its own identity, reflecting personality and authenticity...
All criteria aim to establish a new, credible international standard for hospitality excellence, focusing on a more holistic experience rather than just hotel amenities.
The One Michelin Key award is for “exceptional accommodation experiences.” Hotels that earn this distinction are gems that have character and character, break the mold, offer something different, or are simply of a higher quality than their peers. These properties offer superior service and much more variety than similarly priced properties.
The Two Michelin Key is for “a great stay.” A property that is unique and special in every way, ensuring a memorable experience for guests. A hotel with its own personality and style, attracting guests with its proud and dedicated staff. Eye-catching design or architecture, local identity will make this a great place to stay.
The Triple Michelin Key is for “outstanding accommodation experience.” It surprises and delights guests – with impeccable service, style, luxury and comfort. It is one of the most distinguished and outstanding hotels in the world, a destination for any traveler on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. All the services here are sure to make this place live in the minds and hearts of visitors.
After honoring more than 1,500 hotels through its initial “Key” rating, the Michelin Guide is now preparing to go one step further by introducing its first-ever list of the best hotels in the world, and its team of Assessors is currently finalizing the list.
Four New Special Awards
In addition to the Michelin Key, the Michelin Guide will present four Special Awards, honoring properties that have achieved outstanding achievement and unique excellence in specific areas of the hospitality industry.
Accordingly, the Michelin Awards for Architecture and Design will honor hotels whose architecture and design inspire unforgettable journeys, and elevate the guest experience through a distinctive aesthetic identity.
The Michelin Wellness Award honors properties that pioneer holistic wellness programs that nourish the body, mind and spirit.
The Michelin Award for Local Identity honors hotels that help guests deeply connect with their surroundings, reflecting the local identity and spirit.
The Michelin New Hotel of the Year Award recognizes hotels that have opened recently and made a significant impact on the hospitality industry in their first year of operation.
Each Grand Prize will be awarded to one accommodation that meets the criteria. The winner will be announced at the Announcement Ceremony on October 8. Prior to this, the list of nominated hotels (five nominees for each award) will be published on Michelin Guide’s social media and digital platforms from August 13 to September 24.
Previously, in 2023, Michelin Guide introduced for the first time 9 luxury hotels/resorts in Vietnam: Zannier Hotels Bai San Ho (Phu Yen), Sofitel Legend Metropole (Hanoi), Amanoi (Ninh Thuan), Azerai Ke Ga Bay (Binh Thuan), Mia Resort Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort (Thua Thien Hue), Six Senses Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), The Island Lodge ( Tien Giang ) and The Myst Dong Khoi (Ho Chi Minh City).
According to Michelin Guide, after the first “keys” are announced, whether these hotels have Michelin Key or not, customers can still book rooms through the Michelin Guide website. Each “key” symbol will be a reliable sign for tourists in choosing a place to stay./.
