Lady Trieu (whose real name was Trieu Thi Trinh, also known as Trieu Au or Trieu Trinh Nuong) was born on October 2nd, 226 AD, in the Quan Yen region (formerly Dinh Tien commune, Yen Dinh district, now Dinh Tan commune, Thanh Hoa province). As a child, Lady Trieu possessed exceptional ambition and was skilled in military strategy and martial arts.
In 248, amidst the harsh exploitation and brutal oppression of the Eastern Wu invaders in Giao Chau, the people lived in misery and suffering. Lady Trieu, along with her brother Trieu Quoc Dat - a district magistrate in the Cuu Chan region - rallied heroes from all directions and people throughout the region to rise up and drive out the foreign invaders.
The rebel army of Lady Trieu, from the Nua mountain region (currently Trieu Son commune, Thanh Hoa province), stormed down and destroyed Tu Pho citadel, causing the Ngo dynasty's army to suffer many defeats. From then on, Lady Trieu's rebellion became famous everywhere and later entered the history of the Vietnamese nation.

Due to the overwhelming disparity in forces, Lady Trieu's army could not hold out for long. On February 22nd, 248 AD, in a fierce battle, Lady Trieu perished. Her tomb is located on the summit of Tung Mountain (Phu Dien village, Trieu Loc commune).
Although Lady Trieu is no longer with us, her courageous, indomitable spirit, extraordinary willpower, and determination have earned the people's admiration. In the mid-sixth century, upon establishing the Van Xuan Kingdom, King Ly Nam De bestowed divine status upon Lady Trieu, and ordered the construction of her tomb and a temple dedicated to her and her generals – now a special national historical site, the Lady Trieu Temple.

Ba Trieu Temple was recognized as a special national historical site in 2015.
