Opening of the National Youth Dancesports Tournament and the National Dancesports Club Cup

Taking place from June 29 to July 3, the 2023 National Youth Dancesport Championship and National Dancesport Club Cup attracted a record number of athletes, up to 1,200, from 59 provincial, municipal, club and dancesport centers nationwide. Notably, the junior women's singles event had the largest number of athletes participating, up to 80 people.

1,200 athletes compete in 21 National Youth Dancesport Championship events, and 139 National Dancesport Club Cup events.

Athletes competed in 21 national youth sports dance championships and 139 national sports dance club cup events. This is one of the most important tournaments in the annual national competition system organized by the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training (now the Department of Sports and Physical Training).

It is known that before the tournament took place, the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation also organized training courses for coaches and athletes across the country.

According to Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, this year's tournament attracted twice as many athletes as last year. This is an opportunity for dancers to demonstrate their abilities after a period of careful and hard training. At the same time, it is also an opportunity for Da Nang to promote tourism to 1,200 athletes from provinces and cities across the country. Dance sports in Vietnam is developing strongly, attracting many young talents, the tournament is an opportunity to promote the widespread development of this sport.

According to Ms. Phan Thuy Linh - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation, there are currently 45 localities nationwide with a sports dance movement. To develop the movement more and more deeply, the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation has coordinated with the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and localities nationwide to have many activities to develop the sports dance movement.

“The Federation has coordinated to organize many training courses for qualified and capable coaches to build the movement in localities. In addition to organizing youth tournaments, we also organize an open tournament system to develop the movement. Youth tournaments are for top athletes from provincial, municipal and industry units; open tournaments are for athletes who are practicing at clubs across the country,” said Ms. Phan Thuy Linh.

In recognition of their contributions to the development of the Vietnamese Dancesport movement, the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation awarded the Cup and flag “For the development of the Vietnamese Dancesport movement” to the units that participated in the most events at the tournament. Including Luan Oanh Dancesport Club (participating in 338 events); Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province (295 events); Luc Thu Dancesport Da Nang (183 events).
