In his opening speech, Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: To promote the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", encourage students to regularly practice and compete in sports to improve health, develop physical strength, train the will to rise up, contribute to moral education, personality, and comprehensive human development, the National Phu Dong Sports Festival is organized by the Ministry of Education and Training every 4 years. This is a competition to discover, nurture and train sports talents for the country.

The National Phu Dong Sports Festival is the highest gathering and concentration point of the physical training movement to improve the health of high school students. At the same time, it is an opportunity for sports talents among students nationwide to show off. Localities also take this opportunity to discover their own local sports talents.

The Minister said: After more than 40 years with 10 congresses, the 2024 National Phu Dong Sports Festival is the largest school sports festival ever with more than 20,000 student athletes and officials from 63 provinces and cities competing in 15 sports.

“The success of the Phu Dong Sports Festival at all levels in the past is the result of the close direction and investment of the leaders of the Party committees, local authorities and educational institutions, and the care of families, parents, coaches and the whole society. But first and foremost, the awareness of physical training and physical training among students has increased significantly,” the Minister assessed, and at the same time focusing on the provinces and cities that hosted and organized the Phu Dong Sports Festival phase 1 and Hai Phong city for hosting the national Phu Dong Sports Festival this year.

The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long for their close leadership and direction in the education and training sector in general and the organization of the Phu Dong Sports Festival in particular. He also relied on the Ministries, Departments, and branches at the central and local levels for their close and effective coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training in implementing the goal of comprehensive education, including physical education and meaningful sports competitions for students such as the Phu Dong Sports Festival.

Sharing the honor of Hai Phong city being trusted and assigned to host the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said: Hai Phong city pays special attention to the cultural and social fields. In particular, the education and training sector of Hai Phong city is always ranked among the top in the country.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Chi presented a souvenir flag to Hai Phong city - the host of the National Phu Dong Sports Festival.

In the previous 9 Phu Dong Sports Festivals, the Hai Phong student athletes have always achieved high results in the rankings. At the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024, Region 2, the Hai Phong delegation ranked 2nd with 28 Gold Medals, 28 Silver Medals and 47 Bronze Medals.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, with such results, Hai Phong city has fully converged the factors of economic development, cultural - social development, education and training development, physical training and sports development, so that Hai Phong can firmly step on the path of development.

At the Opening Ceremony, the athletes' representatives and the referees' representatives expressed their promise and determination to strictly implement the Charter and regulations of the Organizing Committee. The 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival in Hai Phong city was held from July 25 to August 6, 2024 with more than 10,000 athletes, coaches, and caregivers from 63 provinces and cities participating, competing for 217 sets of medals in 15 sports: Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Badminton, Chess, Shuttlecock, Athletics, Karate, Tug of War, Taekwondo, Aerobic Gymnastics, Vovinam, Traditional Martial Arts.

This is an opportunity for students to exchange, learn, share experiences and raise awareness about sports training and physical development. In the spirit of noble sportsmanship, the Congress is a place to help strengthen solidarity and cooperation among participating units.
