On August 15, 2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Van Lang commune to organize a class to teach and practice lion dance of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Van Lang commune, Lang Son province .

According to Resolution 1672/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Lang Son province in 2025, Van Lang commune was established on the basis of merging 04 commune-level administrative units including: Bac Viet commune, Bac La commune, Tan Tac commune and Thanh Hoa commune of Van Lang district. After the arrangement, Van Lang commune has a natural area of 132.28 km2 , a population of 7,689 people, the main ethnic minorities are Tay, Nung and other ethnic minorities. In recent years, implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies on ethnic affairs and ethnic policies in general, ethnic policies in the field of cultural heritage in the province have always been given attention and attention by the Party and the State. However, due to some subjective and objective reasons, the implementation of programs and projects to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese ethnic minorities in Lang Son province in general and Van Lang commune in particular has received attention. but not meet actual needs.
Faced with that situation, implementing Decision No. 1719/QD-TTg dated October 14, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period, Phase I: from 2021 to 2025. In which, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned to implement the Project "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period.
Through the process of research and field survey, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has agreed with the People's Committee of Van Lang commune and related organizations and individuals to implement. The Tay and Nung ethnic lion dance teaching class in the locality aims to concretize the viewpoints, goals and tasks of the projects, especially the Project "Preserving and promoting the value of Tay and Nung ethnic lion dance in Lang Son province for the period 2021-2030" (approved under Decision No. 741/QD - UBND, dated April 5, 2021 of the People's Committee of Lang Son province) with specific programs and actions. to research, preserve, conserve, and pass on to future generations the unique values, imbued with humanity, good customs and practices on the cultural lifestyle of the Tay and Nung ethnic lion dance in today's society . Gradually form and improve the quality of activities, practical skills, and performances of the Tay and Nung ethnic lion dance to ensure quantity and continuity, moving towards forming clubs or models of local folk cultural activities to maintain regular and specialized activities to create a spread in society, in the community, and in schools./.
