Exploiting the ecotourism potential of Phu Ninh Lake

Completing legal procedures, focusing on developing diverse eco-tourism products at Phu Ninh Lake... are measures taken to build an attractive destination in the south of the city in the future.

Phu Ninh Lake Eco-tourism Resort Project (approved project name is Black Rock Hill - Phu Ninh Tourist Area) is invested by Hung Cuong Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company. The project was assigned for investment in 2013, with a total area of over 100 hectares, of which the water surface area and Phu Ninh Lake peninsula account for a large proportion.

The project is implementing phase 1 with an area of 59.77 hectares. The company has invested in infrastructure, gradually forming an eco-tourism and resort area with unique products, initially attracting many visitors and guests.

According to the People's Committee of Phu Ninh commune and related departments, the project's phase 1 implementation is still not synchronous, many items are still unfinished.

In accordance with Conclusion No. 114 dated April 9, 2025 of the Government Inspectorate , the People's Committee of Phu Ninh District (old) has requested the project investor to stop all construction, renovation and repair activities at the project, starting from May 21, 2025. The suspension will last until the enterprise completes all legal procedures as prescribed.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH-TT&DL) of Van Ba Son city said that Quang Nam province and Phu Ninh district (old) had previously worked with the investor many times. Through previous inspections, it was determined that there were some inappropriate items.

There are items that have not been completed in phase 1, but the unit has implemented some items in phase 2.

Before the merger, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presided over with other departments, including the Department of Finance, to propose to the Provincial People's Committee not to continue extending the implementation of activities and investment in tourism projects at Phu Ninh Lake until other contents were completed.

Chairman of Phu Ninh Commune People's Committee Nguyen Huu Binh proposed that the city continue to pay attention to and resolutely direct the handling of existing problems in the tourism development project in the Da Den hill area, while supporting the promotion of finding potential and capable investors to invest in developing tourism services at Phu Ninh Lake.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Binh said: "In addition to its function as an irrigation project providing irrigation water for agricultural production and domestic water for the southern part of the city, Phu Ninh Lake is also a scenic spot with great potential for tourism development, but has not yet received appropriate, effective and sustainable investment."

Mr. Van Ba Son said that businesses must have complete tourism products as well as complete related legal procedures. Thereby creating a basis for promoting and advertising Phu Ninh Lake tourism effectively.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung emphasized that the viewpoint of Quang Nam province (old) and Da Nang city is to strongly develop tourism in Phu Ninh lake, Black Rock Hill, connect with destinations, build key tours/tourist routes in the south of Da Nang, including Phu Ninh lake.

“The City People's Committee assigns the People's Committee of Phu Ninh Commune, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Department of Finance to inspect and report on the progress of the project implementation at Phu Ninh Lake Eco-tourism Area. If necessary, a report can be sent and recommendations for the City People's Committee and the City Inspectorate to inspect the entire project. This valuable asset cannot be left unexploited and used reasonably and effectively,” the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee directed.
