(NLĐO) – Before being disciplined by the Party, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long was prosecuted, indicted, and sentenced to prison for the crimes of "receiving bribes" and "embezzlement of assets".
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long has been expelled from the Party.
On December 8th, the Party Disciplinary Committee of the Quang Binh Provincial Agencies Bloc announced that it had decided to expel Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long, former Party Secretary and Deputy Director in charge of the Quang Binh Provincial Motor Vehicle Inspection Center, from the Party due to serious violations of Party regulations and the law.
Specifically, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long lacked exemplary conduct in performing his assigned duties and responsibilities; violated regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do, and was prosecuted, indicted, and imprisoned for the crimes of "receiving bribes" and "embezzlement of property".
As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, between 2020 and 2022, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long processed applications for vehicle modifications and design changes for several car owners, charging between 6 and 14 million VND per application, depending on the type of vehicle. In total, Mr. Long received over 683 million VND in bribes to process applications illegally for 73 cars.
For the aforementioned offenses, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
