Free medical examination and treatment for thousands of people in Soc Trang

On July 11, at My Xuyen Town, My Xuyen District ( Soc Trang ), MEMO Organization (Medical, Educational Missions & Outreach), Soc Trang Doctors Club in Ho Chi Minh City, Soc Trang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology organized medical examinations and treatment, and distributed free medicine to thousands of people in difficult circumstances in My Xuyen District.

Dr. Tran Thanh Tuan, Deputy Director of Soc Trang Department of Health, said that during the 4 days (from July 11 to 14), 158 medical staff participated in the charity program. In particular, the MEMO organization, including 29 doctors and 58 volunteers who are students from universities in California (USA), will coordinate with Vietnamese doctors to examine internal medicine and give medicine to about 3,000 people.

In addition, the program also provided congenital heart ultrasound screening for 200 children and general dental examinations for about 1,000 people. The total cost of the medical examination sponsored by MEMO was over 700 million VND. In addition, MEMO also donated 1,000 eyeglasses, 20 blood pressure monitors, 20 blood glucose monitors, 5 blood lipid monitors, 3,000 blood glucose test strips, and 3,000 blood lipid test strips.

It is known that in addition to providing free medical examinations and medicine to poor people in My Xuyen District (Soc Trang), MEMO also donated more than 60,000 USD, worth more than 1.5 billion VND to VinaCapital Foundation and Cardiac Life Foundation to perform heart surgery for poor children nationwide.
