However, when the MC announced the top 30, the absence of the Vietnamese representative left many viewers disappointed.
In addition, this year's results showed many unexpected faces, such as representatives from China or Palestine, alongside familiar strong candidates such as Thailand, the Philippines, Venezuela, Colombia. The absence of highly rated candidates from the beginning of the season such as Ecuador, Argentina, Australia also surprised many viewers.
Immediately after the top 30 list was published, tens of thousands of comments appeared on the Miss Universe homepage. Some people said there were signs of “injustice” towards the Vietnamese representative, while others said this year’s results were “incomprehensible”.
Some typical comments: “No Vietnam? That’s confusing. I’m a Thai fan”; “She deserves to go further. Hugs from the Philippines”; “I’m a Cambodian fan and believe Vietnam deserves to be in the top 30”…
Amid heightened emotions, many Vietnamese fans have called on the community to remain calm, not to attack the competition or other contestants, and to avoid using negative language that could affect the country's image.

Although she did not make it into the top 30, Huong Giang's journey is still considered inspirational when she became the first transgender beauty of Vietnam to participate in Miss Universe, giving a voice to the LGBT community (transgender, lesbian and bisexual community).
In addition to Huong Giang’s result, the announcement of the Favorite Contestant award also caused controversy when the winner was the representative of Paraguay. Many opinions said that the representative of the Philippines received more votes.
Meanwhile, this year's top 5 also caused controversy among the audience. Many people said that the representatives of Thailand, the Philippines, Ivory Coast and Venezuela deserved to be crowned, but the crown ultimately belonged to the representative of Mexico - Fátima Bosch.
The Miss Universe 2025 pageant will take place from November 2 to November 21 in Thailand. The final night will be without Jamaica’s representative due to an accident, falling off the stage during the semi-final night on November 19 and being forced to withdraw.
