According to the Principal of Dieu Tri Primary School No. 2, the floodwaters were so deep that many of the equipment were completely damaged. The school had 6 computers, 1 photocopier, and a damaged sound system, along with many books that teachers and students left in the classroom that were wet...

The scene before our eyes was garbage, tree branches, and plastic bags swept away by the water and piled up in patches in the school yard and in the classrooms. A thick layer of mud covered everything from the door to the corners of the room."

According to Ms. Tuyen, even the team of teachers who are used to cleaning schools after storms were "shocked" by the level of destruction this time.

“Every time a classroom opened, there was another chaotic scene. Many dead animals, including snakes, were left in the classrooms after the flood receded,” Ms. Tuyen said.

Previously, on the afternoon of November 20, the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province issued an official dispatch requesting schools to proactively let students return to school from November 21 based on the actual situation of floods and local weather conditions.

Along with that, schools coordinated with localities to urgently clean and sanitize schools and classrooms to ensure safety, cleanliness, and disease prevention; proactively stabilize teaching and learning order and implement assigned educational plans.
