In response to voters' concerns about the lack of schools and the pressure of overcrowding in many classes and schools in the capital, Hanoi said it has completed the arrangement of land funds to build new kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and high schools for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
Of which, the number of newly built kindergartens is expected to be 884, the number of newly built primary schools is expected to be 567. The number of newly built secondary and high schools is expected to be 519 and 140. Thus, from now until 2030, with a vision to 2050, Hanoi may have an additional 1,226 general schools.
Currently, Hanoi city has directed the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and wards to review the need for public schools according to the new administrative boundaries.
The results of this review will be the basis for proposing investment in school construction, ensuring enough places for students in the capital.
In the 2021-2025 period, Hanoi has 139 investment projects to repair, renovate and build new schools at the city level and 514 projects at the district level. The total investment exceeds 30,000 billion VND.
In addition to the above content, Xuan Dinh ward voters also requested the city to direct project investors to speed up the construction progress of schools. One of them is the investment project to build Xuan Dinh kindergarten in Tay Ho Tay urban area.
The city said that the Xuan Dinh Kindergarten project is currently constructing many items, of which the main classroom building has completed the first floor and is continuing to construct the next floors.
In addition, a kindergarten project was started in July in the Diplomatic Quarter (Xuan Dinh Ward). Two other primary schools and one secondary school in this area are expected to continue to start construction in 2025 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
