According to the draw results for the 2026 AFC U17 Championship qualifying round, Vietnam U17 is in Group C with opponents Malaysia U17, Singapore U17, Hong Kong U17 (China), Northern Mariana Islands U17 and Macau U17 (China).

All matches in this group will take place at PVF Stadium. In the opening match, U17 Vietnam will meet U17 Singapore at 7pm on November 22.
Notably, only the top teams in the 7 groups will qualify for the U17 Asian Cup. Coach Cristiano Roland’s team is expected to compete fiercely with Malaysia for this sole ticket.
To prepare for the tournament, U17 Vietnam began gathering at the end of October, based on the team of outstanding faces in the 2025 National U17 Tournament. During the past time, the team had a training trip in Japan. Coach Cristiano Roland and his team played 3 friendly matches with quite positive results when they won U18 Imabari, drew with Matsuyama University and only lost to U18 Ehime.
In addition to the 7 group winners in the 2026 AFC U17 Championship qualifiers, 9 teams will be given a special ticket to the final round, including host Qatar (host of the 2026 AFC U17 World Cup) and 8 teams that will enter the quarterfinals of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship, including Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, North Korea, Tajikistan, Japan, UAE and Indonesia.
