Winning 6-0, U17 Vietnam still ranks behind Malaysia

Despite defeating U17 Singapore 6-0, U17 Vietnam still "reluctantly" ranked 2nd in Group C in the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers.

On the evening of November 22, at home ground of PVF Center ( Hung Yen ), U17 Vietnam had a jubilant opening match against U17 Singapore in Group C of the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers.

Coach Cristiano Roland's team scored 6 goals against their opponents in 90 minutes.

Speaking after the match, the Brazilian coach expressed his satisfaction: "I am satisfied with the result and performance of the team. We achieved the target of 3 points in the opening match, more importantly, we entered the match in a good state and maintained it throughout the 90 minutes. U17 Vietnam deserved the 3 points and we are much more confident after this match."

However, despite the "6-star" victory, U17 Vietnam still ranked 2nd in Group C after the first round. The reason was that in the match at the same time, U17 Malaysia created a rain of goals when they crushed U17 Northern Mariana Islands with a devastating score of 13-0.

So even though they both have 3 points, U17 Vietnam is behind Malaysia due to a lower goal difference (+6 compared to +13).

Hong Kong U17 finished third after a 2-0 win over Macau.

In the next match taking place on November 24, U17 Vietnam will have the opportunity to improve their goal difference when facing the weakest opponent in the group, the Northern Mariana Islands.
