According to reports, recent floods in the South Central and Central Highlands provinces have caused heavy damage to the education sector.

Many schools were deeply flooded, had landslides, had their roofs blown off, had their fences, teaching equipment, and drainage systems damaged; and trees were knocked down. The total damage (in 5 provinces: Dak Lak , Lam Dong, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, and Quang Ngai) was estimated at over 97.5 billion VND. Due to the fragmented terrain and the water not yet fully receding, localities are still continuing to count the damage.

The Ministry of Education and Training has directed the Departments of Education and Training to urgently review the damage to facilities and teaching equipment, propose to the Provincial People's Committee to arrange funds for repairs; prioritize the use of support from the Central Government to repair school buildings and purchase equipment, helping students return to school soon.

The Ministry also proposed mobilizing police, military, militia, organizations and people to participate in cleaning schools as soon as the water recedes; proactively disinfecting to prevent epidemics.

Based on the needs reported by localities, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize the free distribution of all textbooks to students in flood-affected areas.

The Ministry has also directed the Vietnam Education Publishing House and school equipment companies to coordinate with localities to count the number of damaged textbooks to provide timely support.

Vietnam Education Publishing House has prepared 10 million textbooks to provide to students in flood-affected areas.

The Dak Lak Province Department of Education suffered a loss of more than VND28.9 billion, including 6,340 textbooks. As of noon on November 24, 2025, 290 schools had not yet reopened.
