On November 26, two working groups from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and the Dong Nai Department of Health arrived in the old Phu Yen to carry out health care activities and restore basic medical facilities after the historic flood. The groups stayed for three days, organizing mobile medical examinations and treatment, providing medicine, disease prevention consultations and environmental disinfection.
The Ho Chi Minh City delegation mobilized five working groups from many large hospitals such as Nhan Dan 115, Nhan Dan Gia Dinh, An Binh, Tu Du, Hung Vuong, children's hospitals... carrying 2,500 family medicine bags. The groups were assigned to the communes and wards of Dong Hoa, Dong Xuan, Hoa Thinh, Hoa Xuan and O Loan to examine patients, provide free medicine and support the restoration of medical stations.
In Dong Hoa ward, nearly 30 doctors from People's Hospital 115 started work early in the morning. In the morning alone, about 400 people came for medical examination.
Patients mainly suffered from skin diseases due to floodwaters, gastrointestinal diseases, flu and chronic diseases that interrupted their follow-up visits.
Doctor Le Anh Tuan - in charge of the team in Dong Hoa ward - said many people were injured while cleaning up or climbing onto roofs to avoid the flood, others were exhausted due to lack of clean water and irregular meals.

At the same time, the Dong Nai Department of Health delegation coordinated with the Dak Lak CDC to spray chemicals, treat the environment, provide post-flood hygiene instructions, and provide VND200 million, 4 chemical sprayers, 2,000 bags of medicine and necessities. The delegation divided into two groups to go to Dong Xuan and Tuy An communes to spray disinfectants on people's houses, garbage collection points, and deeply flooded areas.
Both delegations prioritized support for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women. The Dak Lak health sector assessed that the reinforcements have significantly reduced the burden on the grassroots level and helped the locality recover quickly after the natural disaster.
Mr. Nay Phi La - Director of Dak Lak Department of Health - said that the eastern area of the province (formerly Phu Yen) suffered heavy damage, many medical stations were deeply flooded, and the need for medical examination and treatment after the flood was very large.
"The emergency support from Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai with dozens of doctors and nurses divided into teams to go to the flood-hit areas is extremely valuable at this time. We are extremely grateful," he said.
