According to information about the Cho Lon night street project provided by the People's Committee of Binh Tay Ward on the afternoon of November 24, this is considered a new highlight in the effort to enhance the image of Binh Tay market and create more community living space for residents and tourists.
Night street is arranged on 4 routes
Mr. Tran Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Binh Tay Ward People's Committee, said that the Cho Lon night street project has been approved in principle by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. The night street is expected to be trial operated from December 1, 2025 and officially operated from January 1, 2026, with the main goal of developing tourism in Binh Tay Ward.
Total deployment area is 1,510m², arranged with booths including food trucks (mobile food carts) and handcarts, divided into functional areas.
According to the People's Committee of Binh Tay Ward, putting the night street into operation at the end of the year in conjunction with festival programs is expected to contribute to promoting local tourism, while promoting the Cho Lon night street area as a space for cultural activities, trade, services, entertainment and tourism, with a focus on Binh Tay market - an architectural relic and tourist destination of Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, the night market is oriented to combine with the cultural and social values of the Cho Lon area to diversify tourism products. Expected operating hours are 6pm - 12am daily.
The mining space is located on the sidewalks of 4 streets Nguyen Huu Than, Thap Muoi, Le Tan Ke and Tran Binh (the area in front of Binh Tay market). Of which, 2 streets Tran Binh and Le Tan Ke are used for parking needs to serve night street activities.
On Nguyen Huu Than and Thap Muoi routes, the 8m wide sidewalk is divided into 1.5m next to the house for self-managed parking; 1.5m for walking paths; 3.5m for stalls and 1.5m next to the curb for access.
Tourist highlights and cultural activities
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Duong, Chairman of Binh Tay Ward People's Committee, said that Binh Tay market is a famous domestic and international tourist destination, so there needs to be focused promotional activities.
"The development of the night market is an opportunity to promote the image of the entire area and the market, creating a highlight for the newly established ward. The activities taking place here will contribute to promoting tourism products and creating livelihoods for small traders," he said.
According to Mr. Duong, the ward will have a series of events to transform Binh Tay market from a traditional market to a modern model, overcoming the situation of the previous night market not operating effectively.
The night street not only serves food and beverage business but also has cultural elements, expressing the characteristics of the Cho Lon area. This is a long-cherished project of the old District 6, aiming to light up the area, giving people a space to connect and participate in cultural activities.
In addition, to create a premise for the night street development and increase awareness, the first Southern Cuisine and Traditional Cake Week in 2025 will also be held from December 4 to 10, with 40 booths, including 30 culinary booths and 10 traditional cake booths.
