On November 21, Mr. Pham Van Tuong, Principal of Quy Nhon College of Technology, said that teachers brought food and water to the school to rescue more than 500 students who were isolated inside.
According to Mr. Tuong, at that time, the dormitory had more than 500 students, including 482 students from the school, 14 Lao students and 30 national excellent students. Most of the students had families in the flooded areas so they stayed to avoid the flood. The school took care of all the food and accommodation for the students during the days of heavy rain.

Mr. Tuong said that on the evening of November 18, after finishing school, the students returned to the dormitory to rest when the flood came very quickly, the water flowed strongly, surrounding and cutting off the outside world. Although there were 2 security guards and 2 teachers in the dormitory, the students were still scared and called their families.
On the morning of November 19, the school buildings were completely isolated, unable to communicate with each other. The water level rose, reaching a depth of about 1.8 meters in some places. In the face of the emergency, the school mobilized teachers who knew how to swim to approach the students to encourage and remind them to stay where they were, safety was paramount, while outside, teachers were trying to find a way to rescue them.

When the teachers arrived at school, the road was flooded with water, and the authorities blocked the road for fear of danger. Fortunately, a military vehicle helped take the teachers to the school gate.
“At noon that same day, after approaching the school area, I arranged for a very good swimmer to carry a rope and swim in first, then 10 teachers clung to it and swam after,” said Mr. Tuong.
When they swam in, the teachers brought along plastic bags containing 50 boxes of instant noodles, 400 loaves of bread and many boxes of mineral water. All of these items were distributed to the students. At around 6pm on November 19, when the students were settled, the teachers withdrew.
