Khanh Hoa conducts field inspection, ensures high-speed railway resettlement area is better than old residence

On July 31 and August 1, a working delegation of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee conducted field inspections at locations planned for resettlement areas to serve the North-South high-speed railway project through the province.

This is an important survey step to evaluate construction planning, land use planning, the ability to connect technical infrastructure and social infrastructure with surrounding areas. Ensure that resettlement areas are implemented on a full legal basis, have high feasibility, meet the requirements of stabilizing people's lives, with the spirit of "new housing must be better than old housing".

The high-speed railway project through Khanh Hoa province is over 191km long, with a total land acquisition area of over 2,134ha, affecting 5,465 households and 36 organizations (including 3 schools). The total number of households requiring resettlement is about 1,680. The provincial People's Committee has proposed to build 28 resettlement areas, with a total area of 61.2ha, and a total estimated cost of 1,142 billion VND.

In the southern part of the province (from Cong Hai commune to Phuoc Ha commune, 61km long), it is planned to invest in 5 resettlement areas with a preliminary budget of about 590 billion VND, to serve the resettlement of 707 households in 5 communes and wards. The working group surveyed 7 locations, from which suitable locations were selected and directed relevant departments and branches to speed up the site clearance progress.

In Nam Cam Ranh commune, Cam Thinh Dong resettlement area is expected to receive an investment of VND80.38 billion from the local budget to resettle 18 households. According to the plan registered with the Ministry of Construction , the project will start on August 19. However, the project is currently facing problems related to bidding package complaints, waiting for the Department of Finance to resolve.

At the inspection session on the afternoon of August 1, Mr. Tran Hoa Nam, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, directed the Department of Finance and related units to urgently review legal procedures and thoroughly handle problems to ensure the project starts on schedule.
