Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just assigned the Khanh Hoa Provincial Development Project Management Board to be the investor of the project to restore and embellish the Dien Khanh ancient citadel. The project has a budget of nearly 167 billion VND, expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The project has an investment scale of 12 items, including the restoration and preservation of the original 2,500m long earthen rampart, the citadel top is more than 4m wide, the brick-paved walkway is 2.6m wide...
The new construction projects include a 2,000m long, 6m wide road running close to the foot of the citadel; an arched bridge across the moat; small parks, bridge renovation at the citadel gates; dredging mud and cleaning the moat bed, moat roof, and waterproofing the moat walls...
According to the leader of Dien Khanh District People's Committee, the total land area in Dien Khanh ancient citadel is more than 251,768m². The project will clear about 55,451m² of ancient citadel land, more than 39,000m² of land for agencies and organizations, and more than 105,250m² of land currently used by households.
After the project investor hands over the milestones, the locality will clear the site for the construction unit to start construction.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien - Director of Khanh Hoa Province Development Project Management Board - said that the project to restore and embellish the Dien Khanh ancient citadel relic has completed the construction drawing design and is undergoing verification.
At the same time, the unit is submitting for comments to the Department of Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
Regarding compensation and site clearance, the consulting unit is preparing a map inspection and monitoring report to submit to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for appraisal.
After that, the board will work with the Land Fund Development Center and the People's Committee of Dien Khanh district to issue a decision to reclaim land and carry out compensation and site clearance for the project.
The Board is also implementing the project's construction drawing design work, and is expected to organize contractor selection in September 2024.
"The design has been submitted to the Department of Heritage for appraisal because this is a national historical relic, and restoration must be based on the principle of preserving the original value," said Mr. Hien.
Dien Khanh Citadel was built in 1793, on an area of 3.5 hectares, 2,600m long, 3.5m high walls. This project was the political and administrative center of Khanh Hoa province from 1802 to 1945.
In 1988, the citadel was ranked as a national historical and cultural relic.
