Poet and musician Nguyen Trong Tao has passed away, but his literary friends and lovers of poetry and music still hold a special affection for him, remembering him with a rustic charm and timeless songs such as "The Village Gate Festival Drum," with lyrics by Pham Luu Vu and music by Nguyen Trong Tao. The song evokes memories of the countryside, a symbol of Vietnamese culture; the village gate, whether tangible or intangible, remains a source of nostalgia and an image of home for every Vietnamese person far from their homeland.

Everyone, the public, was deeply moved when they heard familiar songs composed by the musician, such as: "Song of the Homeland River," "Rowing on the Bung River," "Eyes of the Ferryman," and "My Quan Ho Village." These musical works evoked memories of the homeland of composer Nguyen Trong Tao, performed by successful singers who have used his works, such as Anh Tho, Trong Tan, Giang Son, and Ha Quynh Nhu…

Mr. Le Doan Hop, former Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee and later former Minister of Culture and Information, said about composer Nguyen Trong Tao: "I was fortunate to have had quite a lot of contact with Nguyen Trong Tao, from his hometown to Hue City and Hanoi, with many unforgettable memories. I have a certain feeling about composer Nguyen Trong Tao. He was a multi-talented cultural figure, excelling in music, poetry, painting, and literary and artistic criticism. In all four fields, he was at the top nationwide. Nguyen Trong Tao was admired and loved by many, both men and women. Love and friendship inspired him to create many immortal works, both poetry and music, for future generations."

"Mr. Nguyen Trong Tao is an artist who embodies the four precious 'T's: heart, intellect, integrity, and compassion in his daily life as well as his literary career. He lives life to the fullest with three core values: colleagues, comrades, and fellow countrymen, full of love and responsibility. Despite traveling far and wide, he always maintains his hometown identity: witty, cheerful, humorous, straightforward, honest, clear, but also very loving, forgiving, and loyal," Le Doan Hop further shared.

Poet and musician Nguyen Trong Tao was once a soldier serving in the military, enlisting in 1969. The military environment provided him with practical training; he studied at the Nguyen Du School of Creative Writing and held various positions in the performing arts troupe of Military Region 4… Throughout his life, he has published over 20 books including poetry, prose, music, criticism, and painting. He has created hundreds of book covers and illustrations for articles, and has received numerous awards, including the prestigious State Award for Literature and Arts.

Five years have passed since the passing of composer Nguyen Trong Tao, but his image remains vivid in the hearts of everyone whenever they have the opportunity to remember the person and the glorious literary career of the beloved Nguyen Trong Tao...

The art program was held in the fields in front of the village, where the scent of straw still lingered... under the crescent moon of the early month, with the distant, poetic scenery of the Bung River, perfectly reflecting the personality of the artist, as depicted in the famous poem "Song of the Homeland River" that he left behind for posterity.
