Speak skillfully, act effectively – the people will trust and follow you.

Bearing in mind President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "Skillful mass mobilization leads to success in everything," the grassroots cadres, associations, organizations, village elders, and influential people in the province have, over the years, strived to gather forces to participate in patriotic emulation movements, strengthen community bonds, preserve cultural identity, and promote local development.

Throughout his 32 years of service, Mr. Y Bhiu Mlô (75 years old), a respected village elder residing in residential area 3, Pơng Drang commune, has been entrusted with many positions by the Party committee, government, and people. Closely connected with the villagers, he has tirelessly traveled to remote villages to propagate and encourage the people to change their way of thinking and doing things, improve their lives, and focus on their children's education.

Mr. Y Bhiu Mlô.

While working in the education sector, he taught literacy during the day, and in the evenings, he and other teachers would go around encouraging families to send their children to school and prevent them from dropping out early. During the period of 1979-1990, as Chairman of the People's Committee of Pơng Drang commune, Mr. Y Bhiu advocated for the villagers to implement household separation, settled farming, and then permanent settlement. To set an example, he separated his own household first, then encouraged commune officials to follow suit, expanding the practice to Tơng Mai village and other villages in the area.

Mr. Y Bhiu also found practical solutions to help the villagers develop their economy . He chose one household in the village as a model for planting coffee trees. When the coffee trees began to bear fruit, he invited the villagers to visit the garden and learn from his model. This villager spread the word to other households, gradually forming a large coffee-growing area. Thanks to the development of industrial crops, many households in the villages have been able to buy tractors, cars, and build sturdy houses.

In particular, during his time as head of the Fatherland Front of the district, he, along with the Front's staff and political and social organizations, actively propagated and mobilized the people to not believe or listen to evil elements. He spread the message "there's no place like home" among the ethnic communities in the area. Mr. Y Bhiu also propagated and mobilized the people to preserve gongs and jars, participate in gong playing training; mobilized resources to assist disadvantaged students; and united ethnic groups and religions in the area to work together to build increasingly prosperous villages.

With the qualities of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army, for many years, Mr. Nguyen Sanh, Chairman of the Veterans Association branch in Phu Vang neighborhood (Binh Kien ward), has always been dedicated, exemplary, and has excellently fulfilled his assigned duties. Under his leadership, the association's activities have flourished, fostering unity and cohesion.

With his credibility and sense of responsibility, Mr. Sanh actively collaborates with community organizations in the neighborhood to effectively carry out community outreach and mediation, especially in cases related to land disputes. He also encourages members and residents to plant flowers and trees along the streets, contributing to building a green, clean, and beautiful neighborhood.

The leaders of the Veterans Association of Binh Kien ward always acknowledge and encourage Mr. Nguyen Sanh (far left) in the work assigned to him.

Sharing about his work, Mr. Sanh said: “On the digital transformation front, I was a pioneer in participating in training courses, and then together with the ward's digital technology team, I went from house to house, guiding each member in installing and using digital platforms. Initially, it was difficult because most members were elderly, but thanks to persistent efforts, many are now proficient in using them.”

To raise funds to help members, Mr. Sanh and the branch association collectively campaigned to establish the "Comradeship Fund" to visit and support members during illness, organize thoughtful funerals, and contribute to strengthening the bonds of camaraderie within the association.

Not only is Mr. Sanh active in community mobilization work, but he is also the head of the loan group of the Social Policy Bank. He has guided 56 member households in borrowing capital to develop their businesses, with a total outstanding loan of over 2.8 billion VND. Member Tran Van Mao shared: “Thanks to participating in the model of 'Veterans excelling in business' and being guided by Mr. Nguyen Sanh, I boldly borrowed capital to develop a mushroom farming model, combined with growing apricot and kumquat trees. Each year, my family earns over 300 million VND.”

Thanks to these efforts, Mr. Nguyen Sanh and the Phu Vang neighborhood Veterans Association have been recognized and commended by the Party Committee, the government, and veterans associations at all levels for their outstanding performance over the years.

According to the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion, the province currently has 1,063 influential individuals, including village elders, hamlet/village heads, Party branch secretaries, and heads of Fatherland Front committees. These are reliable "bridges" between the government and the people, bringing the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws to ethnic minority communities, contributing to building national unity.
