When Hong Nhung "asked herself"

“The return of diva Hong Nhung after a period of serious illness is a deeply moving and joyful milestone for her fans. Adding to the surprise is the release of a song completely different from Hong Nhung's familiar style, accompanied by a surreal music video inspired by masterpieces of world painting,” musician Huy Tuan commented on Hong Nhung's "Self-Questioning" project.

Having spent over four decades on her musical journey, "I Wonder" is considered one of Hong Nhung's biggest and most heartfelt projects to date.

The song's narrative conveys a spirit of optimism: despite sadness, there is no despair; instead, faith is always directed towards the future. The combination of modern music with contemporary choreography, unique fashion imagery, and cinematic visuals helps "I Wonder" spread positive energy, refresh emotions, and inspire hope.

With the music video "Tự hỏi" (I Ask ), Hồng Nhung collaborated with director Phương Vũ (Antiantiart), young artists Trung Trần and Lope Phạm, choreographer Tấn Lộc, and the Arabesque dance troupe to deliver a visual language strongly contemporary. The MV attracted attention for its groundbreaking visual style, inspired by the surrealist paintings of the Belgian painter René Magritte, famous for his painting style that challenges the viewer's intuition.

The challenge was to create a space, setting, lighting, choreography, and fashion that all told a seamless story, depicting the inner world – where the protagonist listens and engages in self-dialogue. The main setting was the Hanoi Opera House – a space steeped in artistic significance and also a place that holds many memories for Hong Nhung.

Hong Nhung said that she has been singing at the Hanoi Opera House for nearly 40 years, but she is still amazed by the way beauty and elegance of culture and history are seen and expressed in each frame of the music video "Tu Hoi" (I Ask). The harmonious blend of classical art by artist René Magritte, between the magical space and the fleeting appearance of small figures, always living with dreams of flying, expansive, free, and full of emotion, has made the music video a work of art that can be viewed and felt freely in each person's own way.

"Before questioning life, I should probably ask myself first, to see how I've changed. New music, new image, new space, a new self…," Hong Nhung expressed.

With "Questioning ," Hong Nhung delves deeper and challenges herself on a new journey, transcending boundaries and age limits to create. As "Ms. Bong" once said, she is living with all her love and hope that all challenges will pass and the most positive things will come.
