The UEFA Nations League final between Portugal and Spain saw an exciting performance from 40-year-old striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
For most of the early part of the match, Ronaldo was almost "disappeared", not taking any shots for 60 minutes and seemed to be slower than the pace of the match.

However, CR7's superb goal-scoring instincts at the age of 40 were still the difference-maker. A Mendes cross hit Robin Le Normand and found Ronaldo in the right position to finish. He made a brave push, escaped Cucurella and scored his 138th goal for the national team, a moment that proved his worth.
Ronaldo scored his 20th goal in 25 games under Roberto Martinez, taking his career tally to 938. He became the oldest player to score in a UEFA Nations League final – at 40 years and 123 days. The previous record was held by Luka Modric, who scored at the age of 39.
Not only did Ronaldo shine in the final, he also scored in both the group stage and the semi-final (against Germany). That made him the oldest player to score in multiple matches in the same Nations League. At 40, he still showed incredible resilience, tenacity and fighting spirit.
Here are Cristiano Ronaldo's championship moments at the age of 40 with the Portuguese national team:
