Construction of two overpasses at My Thuy intersection started

On March 14, the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects of Ho Chi Minh City (Traffic Board, investor) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction project of My Thuy traffic intersection (phase 3), Thu Duc City.

Mr. Le Ngoc Hung - Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department said: The project to build My Thuy intersection aims to increase traffic capacity through the intersection, contribute to solving traffic congestion, ensuring traffic order and safety on Nguyen Thi Dinh - Dong Van Cong and Ring Road 2 (now Vo Chi Cong); meet the increasing demand for freight and passenger transport in the area, especially in the Phu My bridge area and Cat Lai port cluster; serve local socio -economic development.

The project items are divided into 3 investment phases (complete design with 3-level intersection scale). Up to now, the HCMC Traffic Department has completed some items in phase 1 and phase 2 of the project.

Thereby, putting into operation from the beginning of 2019 to 2021 such as left-turn underpass, a 4-lane overpass unit on Ring Road 2 and Ky Ha 3 bridge - left branch, My Thuy 3 bridge including 6 lanes located between My Thuy 1 bridge and My Thuy 2 bridge. From the end of 2023 to now, the Traffic Department is continuing to urgently deploy the construction of a number of items with handed over land including the left-turn overpass from Cat Lai to Phu My, Ky Ha 4 bridge.

Phase 3 of the project will include an overpass on Ring Road 2 - right branch and Ky Ha 3 Bridge - right branch with 4 lanes.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that the investor and units will make every effort to minimize the impact on travel and strive to complete the entire project by April 30, 2026.

"The completion of phase 3 as well as all items of the My Thuy intersection construction project, along with the continued implementation of projects such as upgrading and expanding Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, Nguyen Duy Trinh Street, Luong Dinh Cua Street, Cat Lai - Phu Huu inter-port route, expanding Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, completing An Phu intersection, Tang Long Bridge, Ong Nhieu Bridge... will contribute to ensuring traffic safety and solving traffic congestion in the Cat Lai port area and the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City," said Mr. Le Ngoc Hung.

Currently, the total land area for the My Thuy intersection project that must be compensated, supported, and resettled is 16.6 hectares, with 195 households having to hand over the site to implement the project.

Vice Chairman of Thu Duc City People's Committee Mai Huu Quyet said that up to now, Thu Duc City People's Committee has issued decisions approving compensation, support and resettlement plans for 182 files. Thereby, compensation has been paid to 169 files with a total amount of 1,213 billion VND. At the same time, the site of 123 files with an area of ​​30,751.14m² (63.1%) has been recovered.

The representative of Thu Duc City People's Committee said that currently, there are 72 files (accounting for nearly 37%) that have not yet handed over the site for many reasons. Therefore, in the coming time, the locality will continue to strengthen its leadership with many solutions, including strengthening the work of mobilizing people, spreading positive information, the significance of this key project; contributing to raising people's consensus, and soon completing the work of handing over the remaining site.

The entire My Thuy Interchange Construction Project is divided into 2 component projects, of which component project 1 is a construction project with a total investment of 1,826 billion VND (of which the items of phase 3 have a total investment of 312 billion VND); component project 2 is a compensation, site clearance and resettlement project with a total investment of 1,623 billion VND invested by the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board.
