Creating momentum for economic development
In Phu An woodworking village, the atmosphere is always bustling with activity. Born into a family with a long tradition of woodworking, Mr. Le The Huy chose to return to his hometown to develop his family's traditional craft. Combining his formal training with practical experience, he invested in CNC cutting machines, edge banding machines, and other modern equipment to improve product quality. Currently, his workshop, covering approximately 250 square meters, specializes in producing furniture for homes, offices, and cafes, generating billions of dong in revenue annually and providing stable employment for many local workers.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Quyen, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Phu An Woodworking Village Association, the village currently has about 200 furniture production facilities. The village's products are not only sold in Hanoi but also supplied to many provinces and cities in the North and some localities in the Central Highlands. Each production facility provides regular employment for 4 to 5 workers; at the end of the year, the demand for recruitment increases even more.
“The income of carpenters is quite stable. Unskilled workers earn between 200,000 and 300,000 VND per day; after training and mastering the trade, the income can reach 400,000 to 500,000 VND per day. For workers specializing in product installation, the income can reach 1-2 million VND per day.”
Besides carpentry, garment-making villages in Hat Mon commune are also developing strongly, becoming a bright spot in creating jobs and increasing income for the people. Mr. Tran Huy Hoa, Director of Hoa Thai Plush Toy Company Limited and Chairman of the Tam Hiep Garment-Making Village Association, said that currently the village has over 500 production facilities, creating jobs for more than 2,000 workers. In addition to local workers, many facilities also attract workers from neighboring communes.
Many garment factories employ between 200 and 300 workers; some businesses even build satellite production systems in neighboring localities to meet the increasing demand for orders. Hoa Thai Plush Toy Company Limited, with a factory area of over 1,000m², provides stable employment for 40 workers and produces more than 10,000 products per month. The average income of workers reaches 9 million VND/person/month or more.

In the Lang Tao tailoring village, Mr. Phan Dinh Dai, Chairman of the Lang Tao Tailoring Village Association, said that the establishments in the village currently provide jobs for thousands of workers with incomes ranging from 9 to 12 million VND per person per month, not including allowances and bonuses. To retain workers, businesses not only guarantee income but also fully implement insurance schemes, holiday bonuses, and other welfare policies. Many establishments regularly need to recruit more workers to meet orders during the end-of-year period.
Towards sustainable development
After nearly a year of operating the two-tiered local government model, Hat Mon commune has witnessed many positive changes. In particular, traditional craft villages are playing an important role in economic development, creating jobs and increasing income for the people.
Production sectors such as civil carpentry, garment manufacturing, agricultural product processing, and handicrafts continue to maintain growth momentum. Many households are boldly investing in modern machinery and applying technology to production in order to improve productivity, product quality, and expand their consumer markets.

According to Mr. To Quang Tuyen, Head of the Economic Department of Hat Mon Commune, the commune currently has 546 operating businesses, 14 cooperatives, and 3,486 production and business households. Many traditional crafts and rural industries continue to develop, notably garment making, furniture making, wood processing, mechanics, and agricultural product processing. By 2025, the total production value of the locality is estimated to reach 9,080 billion VND; average income will reach 89 million VND/person/year; and the commune will have no more poor households.
Besides developing production, socio- political organizations, especially the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other mass organizations, actively work alongside people and businesses in building brands, promoting products, preserving the reputation of craft villages, and striving for a green, clean, and safe production environment.
Notably, Hat Mon has been actively promoting the application of digital transformation in economic development. Over the past year, the locality organized 26 livestream sessions to promote OCOP products, agricultural products, and handicraft goods, contributing to expanding consumer markets, connecting customers, and enhancing the value of local products.
Besides investing in infrastructure, supporting digital transformation, and promoting products, the locality also focuses on connecting labor supply and demand, creating momentum to promote sustainable economic growth.
