On July 3, the Investigation Police Agency of the Provincial Police Department issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute two suspects, Vuong Van Duc, 40 years old, and La Thi Tuyet, 48 years old, both residing in Phu Lac commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province, for the crime of "illegally transporting drugs".

Specifically, at around 20:00, June 25, 2023, the Working Group of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (Provincial Police) coordinated with the Central Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force - Department of Drug and Crime Prevention; Department of Drug and Crime Prevention - Provincial Border Guard Command; Border Guard Station of Bo Y International Border Gate to patrol and control the Vietnam - Laos border area in Iec village, Po Y commune, Ngoc Hoi district, discovered and arrested two subjects, Vuong Van Duc (born August 15, 1983; permanent residence: Phu Lac commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province) and La Thi Tuyet (born January 23, 1975; permanent residence: Na Hoan hamlet, Phu Lac commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province) who were illegally transporting drugs. At the scene, the authorities seized 34 bricks of drugs.

The subjects confessed that on June 21, 2023, the two subjects boarded a passenger bus from Thai Nguyen province to Kon Tum province. Then, someone took them to Vientiane province (Laos) to receive drugs from a man of unknown identity and background and transport them for hire at a cost of 340 million VND for the two people.
Through examination, the 34 cakes of drugs were heroin and weighed more than 11kg.
