The Investigation Police Agency of Gia Nghia City Police, Dak Nong Province has just prosecuted and temporarily detained 7 subjects to investigate and clarify the acts of fraud and appropriation of property on the Internet and bribery. The subjects prosecuted and temporarily detained include: Vo Vi Ny, Tran Van The, Vo Thi Han Ni, Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Pham Thi Bich Thao, Vo Vi No and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Trinh.
According to the initial investigation results, with the purpose of fraud and property appropriation, Vo Vi Ny established 3 "ghost" companies that were not registered according to the law, recruited more than 60 employees and established departments to assist Ny in committing fraud and property appropriation. Ny and Nguyen Thi Tuyet Trinh developed a detailed plan and scenario to direct employees to carry out.
Accordingly, employees recruited by Ny will call customers (whose information has been collected and purchased in advance) and introduce themselves as working at companies affiliated with some reputable hospitals to approach and introduce the program of "giving" functional foods to patients. The recipient only has to pay the shipping fee.
After agreeing, the customer will receive the product along with an invoice and a coupon stating: "Congratulations, you are eligible to participate in the 100% winning program with a prize value of up to 100 million VND".
If the customer agrees to receive the prize, the "company staff" will ask the customer to pay a certain amount of money. This amount is explained as the cost of receiving the prize. Each time the payment is made, the amount will increase and the customer will receive an additional gift. When the customer is unable to pay more money, the staff will call to notify the customer that the winning result has been canceled due to not completing all the procedures to receive the gift and taking the customer's paid amount.
With this trick, from September 2022 to April 2023, Vo Vi Ny and the above subjects committed fraud and appropriated property of about 3,000 people nationwide (mainly the elderly, with a history of some bone and joint diseases, diabetes...) with a total amount of money appropriated of about 25 billion VND.
In particular, during the investigation and verification process, Vo Vi Ny also proactively contacted the officers of the Gia Nghia City Police Working Group to suggest "compensating" the Working Group with 300 million VND and compensating the victim according to the complaint to ignore the case of fraud and property appropriation. Immediately after that, the Working Group reported to the leaders of Gia Nghia City Police to handle Vo Vi Ny and Vo Vi No for bribery.
During an urgent search of the suspects' residences and workplaces, Gia Nghia City Police seized 157 mobile phones, 40 computers of various types, 3 CPUs, 3 printers, 1 money counter, 2 seals, 764 million VND and nearly 30 tons of goods and many books, documents, objects and other assets related to the fraudulent appropriation of property.
The Investigation Police Agency of Gia Nghia City Police, Dak Nong Province has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue a detention order for the above 7 subjects to investigate and clarify the acts of fraud, appropriation of property on the Internet and bribery.
The case is being further investigated by the Gia Nghia City Police Investigation Agency to handle related subjects according to the provisions of law./.
