The 2025 National Handball Championship kicks off

On the evening of October 9, at Tien Son Sports Palace (Da Nang), the Vietnam Handball Federation coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang city to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Handball Championship.

The tournament attracted 128 male and female athletes from 6 localities with strong Handball movement development nationwide including: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Lao Cai, Gia Lai, Tuyen Quang and Da Nang, including 4 men's handball teams and 4 women's handball teams. The teams were divided into groups to compete in a round robin, selecting two teams to compete in the final.

At the Opening Ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City Nguyen Trong Thao said: Handball is an attractive, powerful and highly competitive sport, suitable for the agility and dexterity of Vietnamese people. However, to have excellent achievements in the national and international arena, athletes must undergo arduous and patient training sessions to improve their strength, agility, strategy and team spirit. This year's tournament has been carefully prepared, athletes have been carefully selected from units so the tournament will bring attractive, dramatic and high-quality matches.

The tournament also aims to expand and improve the quality of the Handball training movement nationwide, and at the same time select athletes for the national team to participate in international tournaments, thereby gradually improving the organization and management of the tournament staff in a professional direction.

On the opening day, men's and women's handball matches took place with enthusiastic cheers from spectators and fans.

The National Handball Championship will take place until October 15.
