Previously, in an interview with Tuoi Tre Online on April 12, the head of the Film Department stated that the department had not yet reviewed Truong Minh Quy's film for evaluation because:

"The film submitted by the producer to the Film Department is faulty, so the review and classification committee has not yet been able to see it. The department is currently requesting a copy of the film for review."

"To date, the agency has reviewed the film and decided not to grant a distribution license," he said.

In April, director Truong Minh Quy's film Viet and Nam was announced at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival as being shortlisted in the Un Certain Regard category.

The 77th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 14th to 25th.

American filmmaker and actress Greta Gerwig is the chair of the jury for the official Competition category.

Canadian director Xavier Dolan is the chairman of the jury for the Un Certain Regard category.

According to information from Cannes, 15 films from various countries are competing in the Un Certain Regard category.

Un Certain Regard , loosely translated by filmmakers as "Unique Perspective," is the second most important category after the Competition category at the annual Cannes Film Festival.
