People fill up with E10 gasoline at a gas station in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of June 1st. Many said they hadn't noticed any significant difference.
From 0:00 on June 1st, E10 bioethanol fuel will officially be sold widely nationwide.
Observations in Ho Chi Minh City on the first day of implementation showed that gasoline and diesel fuel business was stable, and consumers were more open to the new fuel after receiving more information and clarifications from experts and regulatory agencies.
The actual experience hasn't shown a significant difference.
According to Tuoi Tre Online 's observations, the number of customers refueling at many gas stations in Ho Chi Minh City remains stable, with no disruptions or interruptions reported.
On streets such as Le Van Sy, Truong Dinh, 3 Thang 2, Ly Thuong Kiet, Au Co, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Cach Mang Thang 8, etc., gas stations have posted the price of E10 gasoline. Most gas stations in Ho Chi Minh City have also changed their fuel signs to offer E10 gasoline.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Le Thi Linh Chi (residing in Binh Thanh ward) said that the debates about E10 gasoline on social media recently had made her quite concerned. However, after three days of using it directly, she has not noticed any significant difference.
"Actually, reading all the information about E10 gasoline is a bit confusing, but based on my personal experience, I haven't noticed any difference. Yesterday, I read the Ministry of Industry and Trade 's guide on E10 gasoline. After reading it, I felt somewhat reassured because my car is completely compatible with the new gasoline," she shared.
Similarly, Ms. Thuy Trang (a resident of Saigon Ward) said she felt more reassured with the chatbot and the guide on using E10 gasoline from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. According to her, this information helps people easily access knowledge about the new fuel instead of just hearing rumors on social media.
As one of the early users to experience the new fuel, Thien Le said that his 2016 Toyota Camry is still running normally after switching to E10.
"My car has been running normally these past few days since I started using E10 gasoline, but it seems to be consuming more fuel compared to regular gasoline," he shared.

E10 gasoline has officially replaced conventional gasoline at many gas stations.

Gas stations across Ho Chi Minh City are simultaneously displaying and selling E10 gasoline as part of the transition plan starting from June 1st.
Don't be quick to blame E10 gasoline if your car is having trouble starting.
From the perspective of someone with many years of experience in car repair, Khang – the owner of a TikTok channel specializing in cars with over 40,000 followers, and currently working at a repair shop on Le Thi Lo Street (Ho Chi Minh City) – believes that the issue needs to be viewed objectively.
In a video posted on his personal TikTok channel, Khang stated that many car models already experience problems such as difficulty starting in the morning, loss of power, or insufficient fuel at certain engine speeds due to the degradation of the fuel system, spark plugs, and other operating components over time.
"If a car has difficulty starting after refueling with E10, the owner should check the overall technical condition instead of immediately concluding that the cause lies with the fuel," he shared.
Mr. Khang acknowledged that E10 has certain limitations due to its ethanol content, which makes the fuel more hygroscopic and can lead to water separation if not stored properly.
However, according to Mr. Khang, if the fuel meets standards and is purchased from reputable Petrolimex stores, these drawbacks are not serious enough to cause the vehicle to stall or become inoperable immediately after refueling.
"It's possible that after switching from old gasoline to E10, drivers feel their car isn't as powerful as before or experience a slight change in driving feel. But saying that the engine won't start or stalls immediately after refueling requires careful consideration of the real cause, rather than simply blaming everything on E10," he commented.

Many people said they felt more reassured about E10 gasoline after receiving further clarification from experts and regulatory agencies.
From an expert's perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Dung - chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Automobile and Power Equipment Association - believes that the fact that some vehicles operate normally while others experience problems when using E10 gasoline is mainly related to the condition of the fuel tanks at the gas station and the compatibility of each vehicle.
To minimize risks, he recommends that people prioritize refueling at large gas stations with a steady stream of customers, and avoid leaving their vehicles idle for too long when the tank already contains E10. For older vehicles, users should check and clean the fuel tank, replace the fuel filter, and inspect the fuel lines and rubber seals before regularly using E10.
However, according to Mr. Dung, in the long run, stricter regulations are needed for storage tank systems and quality control processes to ensure that fuel is distributed to consumers in accordance with standards.
