On May 7, a number of flights to and from major European cities such as Frankfurt, Paris and London were rerouted by Vietnam Airlines to avoid Pakistani airspace.
Affected flights include VN36, VN37 between Hanoi and Frankfurt; VN30, VN31 between Ho Chi Minh City and Frankfurt; VN10, VN11 between Ho Chi Minh City and Paris; VN18, VN19 between Hanoi and Paris and VN50 from London to Ho Chi Minh City.
Currently, Vietjet does not operate direct flights to Europe. However, the airline has announced plans to expand its flight network to the European market by the end of 2025.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines said that although adjusting flight routes may lengthen flight times and increase operating costs, this is a necessary decision in the current context to ensure safety for passengers, crew and the entire flight.
At the same time, it affirmed that it will continue to closely monitor developments in the area and promptly update passengers if there are any changes related to flight itineraries.
In Asia, several airlines have announced cancellations and route adjustments for flights to and from Europe, due to fighting that broke out between India and Pakistan on May 7.
EVA Air (Taiwan) said that for safety reasons, the airline will adjust flights to and from Europe.
China Airlines said flights to and from London, Frankfurt and Rome were affected.
Some flights were cancelled, others had to make technical stops in Bangkok and Prague to refuel and change crews, and fly longer routes...
