The relationship between mother-in-law and son-in-law has netizens gushing: Rare and hard to find!

The mother-in-law, carrying a suitcase of clothes, knocked on her son-in-law's door at 4 PM.

The story was posted on Weibo by the son-in-law, Zeng Ming (40 years old, from Chongqing, China), attracting a high level of interaction.

I must say I'm lucky to have married My Le. She's 7 years younger than me, but she's understanding and knows how to treat people well. I've learned so much from her and feel like a better person every day since falling in love with her and getting married. She also gave me a lovely little princess, who is now 7 years old.

We met when she was interning at the company where I worked. My Le was petite but attracted me from the first glance because she was always full of energy and responsibility at work.

She came to Chongqing from a small village in Harbin to study because she received a scholarship. Later, she chose to stay here to live and work because she married me.

We only go home to her house together once a year during Tet or other holidays. Her parents are farmers, and besides my wife, her family also includes her two older brothers.

I could clearly sense her father's patriarchal attitude. Whenever I visited, I occasionally saw my father-in-law displaying his patriarchal nature towards my mother-in-law, my wife, and my granddaughter.

However, as a son-in-law, I didn't dare to voice too many opinions. Besides, my wife and I were only staying for a few days before leaving, so it was better to just keep quiet.

Until one day at the end of February… I remember it was a Saturday. My wife took our child camping at school while I stayed home, finishing up some unfinished work and cooking dinner while waiting for them to come home.

However, at only 4 pm, I heard someone ringing the doorbell. I expected them to come home early, but when I opened the door, I was astonished to see my mother-in-law, with a huge suitcase behind her.

I immediately helped my mother-in-law inside and poured her some water. Since we got married, my mother-in-law has only visited us a handful of times, and those visits were always very brief, always with prior notice so we could prepare. So why did she come so unexpectedly this time? And why did she bring so much luggage?

I had countless questions but didn't know how to begin, so my mother-in-law spoke first. She asked where my wife and grandchild were going, saying she had something to discuss with them.

I advised her to rest first because the train journey to our place took two whole days, and my mother-in-law must be quite tired.

The son-in-law decided to bring his mother-in-law to live with them after witnessing her suffering.

Then, she still brushed my hand away and said she wanted to wait for my wife. I made an excuse to go to the restroom and called my wife to come home right away.

“I have nowhere else to go. Your father took all my savings, saying he was going to invest in a business with someone. He lost everything, and I can’t take it anymore. Now I only have 60,000 yuan (about 200,000 VND) left. Please let me stay here for a few days; I’ll figure things out later. I’m very embarrassed, but I have no other choice,” my mother-in-law said, weeping, clutching her worn-out bag tightly in her hand.

My wife cried too, and I felt incredibly sorry for her. I never imagined my father-in-law could be so terrible.

But that wasn't all; while hugging her mother, my wife noticed several bruises on her arms. After much questioning, her mother finally admitted that she had been beaten by her husband for not giving him money to invest in his business.

Even when she was packing her things to go up to my wife and me's house, my mother-in-law had just finished enduring a beating.

The reason she didn't go to her two sons' houses was because both of them had married women from the village; if she went, she would either be dragged back home or the neighbors would gossip.

I felt incredibly sad and heartbroken. My mother-in-law is a very kind person, and she loves her children and grandchildren very much.

I consider her like my own mother, because when An – my daughter – was born, my mother-in-law came here to take care of her and helped my wife and me a lot. My wife cried even louder when she saw her mother covered in injuries.

She said she thought her father-in-law had changed, but unexpectedly, he was still the same. It turned out that my father-in-law was an alcoholic and beat his wife and children a lot...

...At that moment, the phone suddenly rang, and from the other end of the line came the loud voice of my father-in-law.

Knowing his mother-in-law was at our house, he spoke even louder, challenging her: "You think you're so great, let's see how many days you can last... Tell your mother to come back here immediately, where did you get the nerve to leave the house after your husband curses you a few times...?"

I was so outraged and couldn't accept it! My mother-in-law has had to endure so much, and my wife too; she must have been deeply hurt. I discussed with my wife the possibility of taking my mother back to her hometown, but it was to talk to my father and ask his permission to bring my mother to live with us from now on so we could take care of her.

Initially, my mother-in-law was afraid of causing trouble and kept refusing. Then I told her directly that I considered her like my own mother. Moreover, my wife married someone far from home and had long intended to bring her mother to live with them, but was afraid she wouldn't be used to it. I wanted to take this opportunity to care for her and show my filial piety. The grandchildren would also look up to me as an example.

The next morning, I booked plane tickets for both my mother and my wife to go back to our hometown. It was very stressful; at first, my father-in-law disagreed. Then, I had to persuade him repeatedly, and my wife even made a big fuss about my father-in-law hitting my mother-in-law...

I also promised to send money to my father-in-law every month and occasionally bring my mother-in-law back to her hometown for a visit. After that, we went to the airport and flew back to Chongqing. I thought my father-in-law would gradually understand the situation and regret it after this incident. Because my mother-in-law had never been so harsh before; she had endured too much, and it was time for her to stand up for herself.

After being posted on social media, the story received a lot of attention from netizens, mostly praising the son-in-law's filial piety. After suffering so much hardship and hurt, My Le is truly fortunate to have such a good partner.

"A son-in-law like that is rare in this world. And the mother-in-law is also great. In general, that's life; give and take makes for a happy relationship. This is truly a heartwarming story," commented a netizen.
