Xeo Tre is a land rich in revolutionary tradition. In the struggle for national liberation, this place is a very important strategic location. This is a resistance base built in the hearts of the people. From this base area and neighboring areas, the Command of Ca Mau Provincial Military Command has made many wise decisions to direct the armed forces of the province to establish resounding victories, contributing with the entire people to defeat many campaigns, tactics, plots, and tricks of the enemy, breaking each battle, destroying, forcing the retreat, and forcing the surrender of many enemy posts, protecting the homeland, protecting the people, and protecting the base area.
Recognition of provincial historical relic site
In late 1963 and early 1964, with the effective support of American advisors and American war equipment, the puppet army and puppet government of Saigon stepped up sweeping, pacifying and establishing "strategic hamlets", trying to regain the initiative on the battlefield, aiming to destroy revolutionary forces, armed forces, warehouses, and cut off our vital transportation routes from the Nam Can mangrove forest to the U Minh base area, connecting the provinces of Zone 9 and the Southeast, the Central Office for Southern Vietnam...
Under the direct leadership and direction of the Regional Party Committee, the Military Region 9 Command, the Provincial Party Committee and the effective combat maneuvers with many great victories such as the battles of Dam Doi, Cai Nuoc, Cha La... The Xeo Tre Provincial Military Base was established. We created momentum for the army and people of the province to promote the offensive against the enemy with three prongs: Military, political and military propaganda, constantly wearing down and destroying the enemy's strength. We consolidated, built and developed the armed forces, stepped up operations in all three strategic areas: forests and mountains, rural areas and urban areas. The revolutionary movement in Ca Mau developed strongly, contributing with the army and people of the whole country to defeat the "special war" strategy of the US - puppet.
At the Xeo Tre Base Area, the Provincial Military Command issued many important directives and orders, directing the armed forces in the province to fight small-scale and medium-scale battles and step up guerrilla warfare to wear down and destroy enemy forces, creating conditions for the province's main force to attack and destroy the enemy. In 1966 - 1967, under the command of the Provincial Military Command, U Minh 2 Battalion fought excellent battles, destroying and wearing down many enemy forces such as: Tan Quang - Don Dong battle, destroying Battalion 470 and Binh Hung reconnaissance platoon, eliminating 240 enemies from combat, including 04 American advisors and the Battalion Commander Major Voong A Ho, at the same time capturing 29 enemies, and confiscating all weapons. The Don Dong battle decided the final fate of the remnants of Chiang Kai-shek's exiled army in Binh Hung. Combining closely with fighting the enemy on land, the Provincial Military Command directed the special forces, local forces and guerrillas in the whole province to coordinate and cooperate with the 962nd Group of the Military Region to attack enemy warships in the Ca Mau river area. In just 3 months of 1970, our army sank and burned 240 large and small warships, including 8 small gunboats, and destroyed nearly 3,000 enemies (including hundreds of American advisors and soldiers), notably comrade Nguyen Thi Nho who was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces...

For 9 years (from 1964 to 1973), the Xeo Tre Provincial Military Base still kept its secret and absolute safety, creating strength to attack the enemy, thanks to the people's solidarity, attachment, and devotion to the revolution. This is one of the resistance bases that the people protected and protected carefully, ensuring safety, and were ready to sacrifice to protect the base, most clearly and deeply demonstrating the people's war line of our Party and the blood relationship between the army and the people. Therefore, the Xeo Tre relic site has an important position in the work of propagating and educating revolutionary traditions for the young generation of the army and people of Ca Mau province, becoming a cultural center of neighboring localities.
The Xeo Tre Provincial Military Base Relic Area has 3 main works including: Victory Monument, relief and memorial house. The monument has an area of 246m2, height of 11m, reinforced concrete material. The image was built with the meaning of "military and people are like fish and water". The relief has an area of 57m2, including 02 relief pieces, reinforced concrete material. The relief on the left has the meaning of "All support for the front line", the relief on the right has the content "Attack on Ca Mau - general offensive and uprising in spring 1968". The memorial house has an area of 107m2, inside displaying some images of the land, people of Xeo Tre and images of activities at the Provincial Military Base during the resistance war against the US and at present.
