In the guidance on implementing primary education tasks in the new school year 2024-2025, the Ministry of Education and Training sets out requirements for organizing the teaching of foreign languages ​​at this level. For grades 1 and 2, in the 2024-2025 school year, educational institutions will continue to implement the elective English program to ensure the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program. For foreign languages ​​other than English, including: German, Korean, Japanese, French, Chinese, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued programs, based on the implementation conditions of educational institutions, the needs of students and parents, schools will proactively implement elective teaching in grades 1 and 2; Implement the selection of teaching materials according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

When implementing the optional teaching of Foreign Language 1 in grades 1 and 2, it is necessary to pay attention to ensuring the connection with the compulsory Foreign Language subject from grade 3. The teaching duration is appropriate for the initial familiarization learning form, not causing overload for students. In testing and evaluation, focus on regular evaluation to support learning, not using evaluation results to consider grade promotion.

For grades 3, 4 and 5, schools implement solutions to organize the teaching of compulsory foreign language 1; choose foreign language 1 that has sufficient conditions for implementation in accordance with the organizational capacity of educational institutions, the needs of students and parents, ensuring connectivity and in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The implementation of the English learning materials system on computers and online at primary school level ensures quality, practicality, and suitability to local conditions and capabilities.

The Ministry of Education and Training said it encourages educational institutions to voluntarily socialize foreign language teaching to increase study time; teach foreign languages ​​through Math and Science topics; teach some subjects in foreign languages. Strengthen the organization for teachers and students to learn foreign languages ​​through television, media and other suitable learning resources.

In addition, promote foreign language practice for students through activities such as reading stories, experiential activities, creating foreign language environments outside the classroom, playgrounds, exchanges, etc.
